Why......???

There are a lot of BBers today with legs that are much bigger than Arnold's IMO. He has beautiful symetry in his legs and sick calves, but Today's pros dwarf his legs. Granted most of those guys can't pull off his overall symetry, but a good number can with greater leg size.

On another note, people who ripp on Arnold for not having leggs usually look at his earlier photos. Even Arnold himself admitted his lower leg development was lacking in his early years.

arnold did some early pics in thigh deep water as he was ashamed of lack of leg development. then decided to do somethin bout it. i think arnold always looked good, but maybe not the best bb'er ever.

Not the best ever? Your crazy!!!

What makes someone the best ever?

You have to think that he becamce the bar. People had to look better and bigger than him. Who else has set that standard?

i like his build and would be happy with it, i wouldn't want my legs the size of tom platz i think it would aggravate me my legs rubbing together all day.

lol, crazy maybe bro. but there were definately better lookin bb'ers at his time. he became what he became not just because of his build, but because of his whole persona. how many of his competitors became movie stars etc? he had a personality which people responded to, which in turn made him extremely popular. he could promote the sport, probably better than all the rest. we all know there is favouritism when it comes to judging, all calls are not equal, which has been proven year after year. but if rating soley on body, then he was not the best.

as to who looked better, sergio, franko both had better bodies. as to who was bigger and as well proportioned - lou, but he didnt have the persona required.

I prefer Arnold legs instead of the big trees we see today. Proportion, symetry, shape and size is the way to go for me. Today everybody focus everything first in size, then the rest.

i think todays bb'ers lets get too big

i mean what the fuck are you going to do when you are alot older?

I agree 100%

Bodybuilding needs to get away from the monster sizes and go back to the classical look, i.e. Arnold, Bob Paris etc.

arnold was the man, he took the sport mainstream. kind of the jimmy hendix of bb'dng. the best, no. the greatest, yes. sergio oliva, best body, past and present.

in time, this will happen. the combination of roids, g.h., insulin and dangerous cutting agents that are required for top level pro's will run its course. it has become a freak show.

his legs are great. you also have to remember during his string of mr. o's he fell off/through a stage guest posing and lost like 3 inches off his legs byt eventually gained it back. some of those pix are floating around.

his 1980 title were some of his worst legs as he readily admits.

totally agree here... today's bb'ers are just freak.. they don't hold the starndard of looking as if they were a classic greek sculpture as many would like to say the classic bb'ers like reg park, arnie, franco, and serg had. Currently they look like disgusting monsters that have to waddle around. i would never want to look like a coleman or cutler... but a body like serg, arnie, or franco...yeah wouldn't be bad... perfect proportions and reasonable size
just my 2 ccs

true. I agree with the judging. I honeslty think ronnie looked better than cutler last year. maybe Ronnie will come in bigger better and fucking ripped.

Arnold from 73-75 was his peak years
No one could hold a flame to him on stage
In 1974 he was the total package (but most only seen his body from the 75 contest in pumping iron)
Tom platz had huge leggs ,but platz also has a giant ass to go with it
Lou's was to young being only 23 to have the definition and seperation that arnold had in 75 being that arnold was 28 and had 5 years of training on him.

some one posted a video of arnold in 1974 his peak year before his fell and broke his leg and had to try and catch up for the 75 contest.
1974 was arnolds year where he was 110%

I think your third pic nelson with arnold hitting the front trap pose is from 74.

Arnold Glorfied bodybuilding took it mainstream he looked like a warrior
a trained physic that appeared as a living breathing statue of a ancient greek warrior
come to life.

Nowadays some of these guys are down right ugly and they get luaghed at everywhere they go .Saw nasserelsonbaty years ago in orlando as he walked across a parking lot people scurried to get in their cars ,people ran the other direction as i looked in the window of a italian resturant old people were pointing at him like a gorilla escaped from the zoo.

same shit with markusrhul posted video on youtube when he is shopping in the store the people are looking at him like a monster that could turn on them and try to kill them rather then inspired a motivated to train

I agree come to think of it.

I still think he's the best of all time and always will. His build is pretty much ideal in every way. Not too big perfect symmetry. I wish BB could get back to that. There are a few guys but for the most part its a freakfest.

Arnold was the only one to lose his Mr. Olympia crown and win it back, am I right? He had great symmetry which is also very important in judging. I'd say he's just about the best, top 3 at least. Ronnie Coleman in an interview with Prosource( sorry I don't have the link) said he was the best of all time. Thats pretty good props I'd say

I think half the reason the BB's today have such large legs is because they are a lot shorter than Arnold. I have always thought that it has to be easier to build on a smaller frame than us boys over 6ft.

I agree! The days of symetry ended with Lee Haney and pros when size crazy to feed the "industry" mags, sups, etc. Bigger = More $$$

I'm 36 and have been around and followed bodybuilding my entire life. I've talked to several pros and a few Mr.O's in sit down serious talks where I got impression they missed the good old days.

BG

i dont care what anyone says....arnold has the best body ive ever seen....all the bodybuilders back in that time looked 10 times better then the ones of today hands down

I don't think many of todays bodybuilders need to worry about getting "a lot older".
