My father jokingly told me once when we were fishing that you're suppose to place the maggot in your lower lip. This was to keep it warm and thus livelier so it would be more appealing to the fish. My mother wasn't too happy with him when she saw me pull a maggot from my mouth and put it on my hook.

She got bombed on acid, she's only 23 similar as they come to a female version of me, but more aggressive, and colder. Yeah, some funny shit there too.
