Cuz of the history of pigs rooting and sleeping in doody/mud and the fact that they eat slops which = that they are dirty.....

Plus back in Jesus' time -- the only thing pigs ate were slops/castoffs, etc and they are also a hooved animal which = the devil so the Jews wouldn't eat it....

Much like people only drank wine & beer cuz the water wasn't safe to drink.....

Animals harvested for production, whether they are chickens, cows or pigs live, breed and are harvested under the most unsanitary conditions......

It can be a trade off....
