why is it that to get a six pack everyone thinks its by what you eat???

If Training is number one, diet maybe second. I laugh when I see all these peeps talking about their ultra low-carb foods, and yet they still cant get the results they want.

these 2 sentences are loaded with fallacies.

diet....sets the stage for what happens with your body. without the fuel, building blocks or lack thereof...weight gain and loss wouldnt be possible. training is only a stimulus. 60% of what happens to someone's body is due to how they eat for their goal.

carbs are not the enemy. ultra low carb foods dont necessarily equate to fat loss, at the same time carb rich foods dont mean fat gain either.

Abs are the most worked muscle group in the whole body. Everyone has them, just not many people have them showing due to a layer of fat covering them.

I never do any direct ab work, yet i have a 6-pack due to the fact i carry no fat on my mid-section. Abs do receive a tremendous amount of stimulation while training other bodyparts.

Simple...because the male body, as a general rule, stores fat around the midsection..."gut". Diet is important for definition regardless of the muscle group in question, but specifically in the abs because there is typically more fat there, plus people are much more concerned with definition in the abs than other muscles. You don't see too many people asking "how can I bulk up my abs?" I know I have defined abs...and if I could stick to a good diet everyone else would know too...I just have a weakness for chocolate Oreos and Guinness...not together :p

Are those your abs in your avatar?

No offense, but i really don't think that's the 6 pack most people want...

Because people aren't terribly smart as a rule.
To be sure, they're sure as hell not *consistent*...
how many guys do you know that train intelligently,
really bust their ass, and carry a lot of muscle yet
are carrying about 50 lbs. of unsightly lard on
their guts?

How many people have you seen driving away
from church services on Sunday, honking the horn
and flipping off the driver ahead of them for whatever
stupid reason?

I've seen something similar to both frequently. People
aren't consistent. They might train as a bodybuilder,
but their diet flat-out sucks. They might fancy themselves
moral, spiritual people, but they're fakers.

In any case, if you want to be cut, you'd better have
*some* muscle, but the main thing is that you should
be lean as hell. No matter the bodypart, no matter popular
consensus.

great post.!

Simply put people, especially males, store fat in the abdominal region first before anywhere else.. So you can have a gut with ripped legs for instance..

Easy now...it's a work in progress :p Like I said...if I could just lay off the junk and clean up my diet everyone else would know I have abs too. I'm more concerned with putting on mass right now rather than getting rid of the extra couple lbs on my abs...I don't really do cardio :D
