Before you mentioned the Marines, I was going to say, with your observational tendancies...you guys would make good operators.:) Attention to detail son.

Anyway, my dad presses 1/2 ROM because of a fucked up rotator. He's also 65, and he's moving 275. I give him shit because I can, but in reality, how many 65 year olds can even bench 27.5 lbs. If he didn't have the shoulder injury, I have no doubt he could go full ROM with no problem.

Big props to your dad! 275 is a nice weight at any age but at 65!That is OUTSTANDING!!

im doing it to get my bench up it helps believe me! its called wsb training! the same goes for box squats to helps you get used 2 the heavy weight and bring your lifts up so no its not just for ego

Westsiders do not advocate benching half way down then back up again.

During a WSB workout you may do board presses, floor presses, lock outs The boards and floor presses makes it seem like your training your bench half way, but in reality you do boards to strengthen your lockout and floor presses to strengthen your midpoint. You would do heavy rack lockouts to get used to heavy weights.

Now to feed my ego,
I was the only guy training WSB style in my gym for over a year and half now and all my lifts are taking off. Maybe all these people are just trying to imitate me doing board presses without the boards. ;)

Attention to detail!

Brings back memories......

Best thing I ever did was joingin the Marines. Changed my life forever.

i have great form i have the best form my football coach has eva seen! so my dad who was a power lifter when he was 25 he was benching 600 pounds he is the 1 who told me 2 do it

nothing wrong with "partials" as long as thats what they are called. if someone says 'hey i bench 300." and you see them do that...just know that they have no clue. if someone is doing that for a purpose, to help their full ROM bench press, then they are educated and you can respect that lift.

i just really dig the guys that train half way all the time...and if the bar gets close to their chest, they are buried. even with moderate weight. can you say "strength hole" in thier lift? alot of these guys are bb style benchers and limit their ROM because it pulls so hard on their shoulders to be so wide with the elbows. i guess im sort of a convert because i bench PL style (so does my gf) and there is no strain on my shoulders, and the "hole" in my bench press is gone.

Full range of motion is the way to go but with shoulder probs, no way. In my 20's full range and constant lay-off with shoulder problems. Im 34 and have been doing bench to parallel, since no problems and injury free for 3 years. Not the best chest but atleast i can move my shoulders.
