Why do people here bag on cutting cycle's and low body fat %??

lol, dude we are one big happy family, I think the "Lean Crowd" are less, for a few reasons.

a high percentage fo people on this board dont compete, so really whats the point to be ripped to the extreme

and most people are comfortable with themsleves at being anywhere from 9-16%, tell you the truth I would rather be 5'8" 205lbs and 9%(which I am now) than 190lbs and 6%, 9-16% is just easier to keep consistant. trust me, those last 5-8lbs are hell

Plus, yes it is hard as hell to get down that low, you need to actually know a whole carpload of different ratio's, aspects, wierd info, takes a lot of time

oh yeah, I almost forgot, plain and simple CARDIO SUCKS

I stay at around 13% all the time. I can keep this bodyfat % without a lot of thought. I eat like a horse, basically eating whatever I want to eat. I eat lots of protein and carbs, and I don't sweat the fat. I don't eat pastry but other than that, I don't have to watch what I eat, and I am very strong, and with the exception of the one out of a hundred or so guys on the beach with less than 10% bodyfat, I look better without a shirt than most.

I train for strength contests, not looks, but hey, who doesn't want to be attractive to the femaninas?

However, for me, having 18+ pipes, and being 5 eight and 240 is just fine, even without a 6 pack. Sometimes I get to thinking. . . I am 240 at 13% according to my calipers, I can see my top set of abs. . . I could cut down to 220 and be maybe 8% and look great for the summer.

And then I wake up, realize I already have a nymphomaniac girlfriend who thinks I walk on water, and nobody really cares what I look like, and those visible abs are not going to do a damn thing to get that bar off my chest, or to help me stand up when the bar is across my back.

However, if I was single, and on the prowl, I would probably drop some weight, stay away from the Pizza joints, and let my hair grow a bit. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look good. . . but people who lift only to get chicks are a bit suspect, and people who are constantly trying to get all lean and hungry looking tend to be those type of guys.

Personally, I think it looks kinda silly to be completely shredded at like 150 lbs. Even the "abercrombie look" is a good deal bigger than that. Makes you look like a starving somalian or something.

I think it's a perfectly fine goal to want to be very lean and a reasonably difficult one to achieve. I haven't noticed too many people ripping on cutting cycles. To me it makes no sense to continually bounce back and forth between bulking and cutting. I have no problem with other people doing so, but it seems like a waste of time and effort to me.

I would rather just bulk while staying pretty lean until I get as big as I want before cutting off that last 5 lbs. of fat.

Not a big deal really, everyone has different goals, and I can respect all of them as long as people are dedicated and motivated to pursue their goals.

I think this is completely unfounded. We never bag on much of anything, let alone diet. In fact, we don't talk about diet much around here. We certainly don't get into an opinionated quibble when we do.

Stop making shit up and wasting board space.

Oh shit!

Being lean doesn't fall into helping me with my goals...at all.

I stand by the opinion that if your short term goal does not help with your long term goal...you need a new short term goal. Example:
Short term goal: drop to 6%bf at 180
Long term goal: compete at 5%bf at 265

The short term goal does NOT help to complete the long term goal. A better short term goal would be..
Short term goal: bulk to 225 @ 13%bf
II: drop to 220 @ 10%bf
III: bulk to 240 @13%
IV: drop to 232 @ 10%
V: bulk to 245 @13-15%
VI: drop to 240 @10%

You get the idea of the process I am thinking about here...and I might not drop near as often as I suggested here...if ANY!!!

Plenty of people on this board have cut their diet recently (just to make weight for a strongman or powerlifting contest)... Many of us KNOW what it is like to diet...
