yes but he is a democrat + black, therefore he gets the black vote, which is most all of western TN mainly Memphis, which is a large percentage of the states voting population.

So it may be closer than people realize.

But he is a dem who actually has a bright future. This is because he is not a knee-jerk liberal. He is fairly conservative on many issues. This pays dividends in a state like TN.

He was one of the first (and only) prominent dems to call for an apology from John Kerry last week.

He is a future candidate for VP or POTUS.
