Nikolai is right.

You cannot expect a constitution to remain rigid for 200 years. The constitution is fluid and is interpreted by the Supreme Court regularly.

The Supreme Court has protected us more than any other branch of government. If we left all matters to the legislature we would be a dated society, at best.

We're the government and are here to help. bwahhahahahha

Fuck them!

the problem with the constitution is it was written 230 years ago & it is vague as hell.

right now putting a prisoner in solitary until he loses his mind isn't consdiered cruel or unusual. it may be 40 years from now. 80 years ago electric chairs weren't considered cruel or unusual, now they are in most states.

as far as free speech, it exists here, just no more than any other 1st world country. if america is in a crisis we will halt free speech. WWI, WWII, vietnam, the drug war, pc standards, today with the bin ladin thing.

become a libertarian. you might like that.

Uhh.. guys I am a Libertarian. How does anything I've written go against the Libertarian viewpoint?I'm only pointing out the hipocrisy involved with having a constitution that is interpreted.

it doesnt. that is why i recommended you become one because you have libertarian views. but it appears you already are one.

wasn't that "70s" cartoon on the simpsons about the constitution... the one that talks about ted kennedy and stuff.. lol

the song

that was about amendments & bills.

what if the government rejects this bill

'then i'll make ted kennedy pay
if he fight back. i'll say that he's gay'

Am I the only one who realizes that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" is not written ANYWHERE in the Constitution?

The Constitution does not need to be interpretted to the extremes that you are complaining about. It is one of the best, if not THE best, written documents in history. It usually takes someone with no more than a 10th grade reading level to understand a given part of the Constitution. Amazing how a group of illiterate Supreme Court justices guaranteed women the right to kill their children even though the 10th Amendment explicity states:

Amendment X - States' Rights. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

It doesn't get much simpler than that. The Constitution becomes garbage when we have garbage on the bench to "interpret" it.

Find me someone who knows how to read, and the Constitution is a masterpiece.
