who here has actually hit it?

How many people have hit their sciatic nerve???

I have heard some stories about people who have hit the nerve even when they were injecting in the proper place. and i have also heard replies about sitting down when injecting...........which i do not see how this would make a difference.

this scares me about inhecting into the glutes where exactky is the siatic nerve

Right along the crack of your ass from the midle back part of your leg. If you put your forefinger on the outermost part of your hipbone (the greater trochanter of femur) and place your thumb on the back pointy bone next to the lower part of your spine, (posterior superior iliac spine), then you will see the part of your ass that should be safe to shoot. Im reading this off of an excerpt from a nurse magazine. I would scan it but I have no scanner.

I've hit what felt like nerve endings before from shooting too low, my ass twitched and I re-located the pin to a higher location, but nothing serious.

good post... i havn't used AS yet... but i do get a little concerned about the idea of possibly hitting the siatic nerve... what wrong with doing most of the injections in the quad? bumpski

Aim for the upper outer quadrant and you'll be ok. I have never hit it and from the stories I have heard it wouldn't be very enjoyable.

I hit a nerve once, I was going into my quad, you guys know how nerve pain feels, right? It´s just felt like I hit my funny bone, that feeling, only it shoots down your leg. Scary, but nothign serious unless you damage the nerve, I think bumping it isn´t a huge deal, although I´ve heard of heroin users trying to hit the veins in their legs and getting crippled, although I think they damaged arteries?

i actually havent hit a nerve, however i did have a muscle spasm 1 time when doing a glute inject it seemed like the further i pushed the more it spasmed..i was ok though

oh i think i hit a nerve one time or i hit a vein...either way, i couldnt even sleep or think about moving becasue it honestly almost braught tears to my eyes....VERY painfull

I have hit the nerve... and my right leg has been permenantly partially numb ever since (about 8 months or so now)... it sucks... I don't know how the fuck I did it... always inject in the upper outer quadrant of my glute. And the worse news is... it doesn't ever heal.

A friend does my shots for me. Haven't caught a nerve yet! If she ever stops shooting for me I'll do the quads, that's when I'll be a little more concerned about the possibility. more opportunity for hitting a nerve in the quad.

solid...i dont know why you added the always aspriate comment to your post. If you were tlakin about basic injectin that makes sense but whether or not you aspirate isnt gonna do shit once the needles hit a nerve..

I only hit my glutes twice. I have hit quads many times. DO you sit when you hit glutes? How do you do it?

Bump that.

I was taking a shit the other morning and running late and wondering if I could inject while I was dropping the kids off at the pool. I had my vial, syringe and wipes in hand, but it just seemed weird, so I waited till I was done with no.2.

When you inject to you push the pin smoothly..........or do you use a somewhat gentle "dart" type motion like a mean nurse. If you go in slow and smooth I imagine you could be more careful and avoid the nerves.

Has your right side or leg shown any atrophy? I wonder if hitting a nerve can hinder or even prevent growth. You ever notice how Jay Cutlers left thigh is noticeably bigger than his right? He wasn't like that a few years ago. I wonder if he's had some nerve damage. Perhaps something along the lines that you've described

my gf is a nurse, and told me if i hit that nerve, im fucked. it can lead to total paralisis. its pretty serious. like ulter said, sit while injecting and you;ll be fine

I started glute injections in the late 80's. Still doing them today.....as the primary site. Never hit a nerve yet....knock on wood!

A lot of people (experienced people) do quad and delt injections wrong. You shoot into your quad at an angle towards your knee cap. This results in less tissue resistance. Thats also why a 1.5 inch pin is fine, cause of the slight angle, you dont have to go all the way in either. You wont have any chance of hitting your sciatic nerve doing quad injects seeing as how the nerve runs through your hams.

Always do your delt injections at the lower portion of your delt and shoot it at an upward angle towards your shoulder. I used to always shoot at 90 degrees in delts or even at a downward angle. This is terrible as most people do this, and this is where the connective tissue is for your delts, towards the bottom of the muscle. Shoot from the bottom on an angle upwards into the "bulk" of the muscle.

Glute injections are the only injections that you should do at a 90 degree angle. I have never sat down Ulter to do these, and have never had a problem. I bend over slightly, and take the weight off of the leg on the side I am injecting into. I would picture there to be more tissue resistance sitting down, and perhaps slightly more pain this way with the muscle being compressed like that. Are you saying it is impossible to hit a nerve if you are sitting down?

For quads, you should be injecting into the upper part of the vastus lateralis muscle (lateral midthigh area). Jab the needle in so that its inserted one inch toward the anterior aspect of the thigh. There are no important nerves or vessels in close proximity. Just remember to shoot it at an angle towards your knee cap. Check out this link.

Look at this link. http://www.netsvic.org.au/nets/handbook/index.cfm?doc_id=632

Its for an infant, but the principal remains the same. You also have much more muscle that an infant (hopefully), so it goes deeper on the angle. I just recently starting shooting quads and they are great. If you are doing them properly ... they will be completely painless. All injections are painless for me now. Just remember these tips, keep muscles in the injection area relaxed. Break through the skin quickly, but smoothly, dont "jab" it, but going in slowly causes more pain. Don’t change the direction of the needle as it goes in or comes out. Really a piece of cake.

Here, I posted this on another thread the other day, if you are having problems with injection pain after injection. May help you a bit.

- I know many people who have an electric massager, and swear by them for after injects. I have not personally used one, but would like to try one.

- Heat the juice before shooting it (lowers viscosity of oil and allows for quicker dispertion of the chemical so you have less irritating substance concentrated in one area, this is especially common with Winny or Suspension thats in an aqueous solution) not so much for test, but still will help.

- Start injecting in the morning! Injecting before you hit the sack and then lying still for 8 hours while your sleep doesn't help soreness. The gear just seems to sit in a pile in your inj site. I am very lazy sometimes when it comes to injects so I'll wait till about 12 or even 1am then finally get around to doin it, and then Im sore as fuck the next day.

- massage the area thoroughly after you inject to speed up the dispertion of the depot, again an electric massager would be ideal.

- This one really helps for me. Apply Ben Gay to the injection location when you are done. It will increase blood flow to the area, again speeding dispertion of the depot. This stuff is cheap and OTC, get some!

- If you are still sufferening, you may want to dilute your gear with a sterile oil.

If not of this works, and you are still having painfull injects, or painfull injection sites afterwards, well .. what can I say besides ... you are a still doing something wrong, .... or you are a GIRLYMAN!! (saying this in an Austrian accent!) lol :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:

well well well, aren't you santas little helper lately!!

hahahaha ... you better be good cause I know when you are naughty or nice!

I had to get a shitload of travel immunizations yesterday, Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Hep A and B, and tetanus and even a flu shot. She asked if I was brave enough to get them all in one day, or if I wanted to spread them out over a few weeks? I acted all scared, and said ... "well, I guess I will try them all in one day, I really hate needles though, so be gentle". She hit the yellow fever up SubQ, in the back of my tri area, then hit up both delts and quads. Damn .. I dont know what it is, but nurses do beatuful jabs. Just so smooth. I kept asking her questions, pretending that I didnt know, and she answered everything good, I wanted to ask her why my glutes werent the spot of choice? She did my quads before my glutes which I found strange. ANyways, she didnt even suppinate in my delts, I asked why, and she said I was easy to "landmark" with such large delt muscles. She went on to say its "all about the landmarks", lol. And told me that she has probably given over 10,000 needles in her day! hahahaha. I was thinking the whole time of a little business opportunity, she could have a drop in stop at her house for newbies or those scared of needles to get jabbed for a fee! Could also do heroin newbies, hahahahahahaha! Probably quite the market for both nowadays! lol~!!!!

No there is no compression if you put your leg out to the side and relax it. It's not impossible to hit A nerve, it's impossible to hit THE nerve. Although in 20 years I have never hit nerve doing a glute shot so maybe it is A nerve.

MT - I have not really noticed any atrophy in my right leg after the nerve damage... it is slightly smaller than my left thigh, but I don't think it's a consequence of my injection as much as improper form while training. My entire portion of my right rear thigh is almost completely numb, my right buttock is paritially numb, and my rear right calf is partially numb as well. It's been this way for so fukin long, I'm used to it now. I never knew to sit down while injecting until this thread... but from now on I will.

what is the logic of it being impossible to hit the nerve by sitting down? i dont see what the difference would be, does the sciatic dissapear when sitting......

I hit a nerve in my quad the other day and it felt like when you check your reflex on your knee cap my leg kicked and spazed a few seconds, but I just pushed on through and am fine. No loss of feeling or anything else strange a week later.

For some reason I have trouble with quad inject. I find it the most painful site to inject. I'd much rather do calves. Even bi's and tri's are easier for me. But I'm going to try the technique mentioned in this thread about going in at an angle toward the knee instead of straight in like I usually do. And to think that all these years I've been doing quad injects wrong.
