Where is a cheap place to learn martial arts

Aside from bars and whatnot. I am graduating soon and just discovered the martial arts center at school which is dirt cheap (like $8/month) but in the real world it'll cost closer to $50-100/month. How do I end up on the cheap side of that equation when looking for martial arts training centers?

1. Check the YMCA, it should only be 20-40/month.
2. Find any center that meets in someone else's building rather than their own (to save on overhead)

Those are the only ideas I have so far other than just calling every center in the town I end up living in and asking their prices. I'm into Tae Kwon Do right now but could probably switch to another art like Akido or Karate if need be. I am really that cheap, at least if it means paying $30/month instead of $100/month.

Not at the Ymca.....It is 90.00 for 8 weeks.....

I was friends with a guy that was a blackbelt in twa kon do. The guy admitted to me that if I got ahold of him, he'd be fucked. I wouldn't spend all that money, time, investment to learn those skills.

I think I prefer the structure of martial arts more than anything. And earning a black belt in a martial art is a goal I set for myself last year but haven't done anything to work for, I'm hoping I can earn a blackbelt in something by 2010.

Thats only $45/month. I am just trying to avoid places that charge $100/month. Under $50/month would be ideal for me.

I'm actually curious about this as a general subject (and I think the prices at the Y are outstanding) can anyone make a general statement about the instructors?

I'm really thinking about joining the Y down the street because I think I might like to try yoga (and they do have a weight room and I just can't afford decent leg workout equipment for home) so for $150 a year and whatever the classes cost it could be fun.

FIGHTS??? LMAO foolish little wee man I'm over 40.
even when you rent a community centre you still have to charge a minimum of $40.00 a month. then you have all the people who dont pay or dont pay on time or say I'll get you next week for the uniform or gloves or mouthguard etc...

The guys who collect garbage make $30.00 an hour but the guy who teaches you to save your life or protect your family should make nothing right?

GO RENT UFC #1 AND LEARN ALL THE WAZA wee man

Fuck you. I hope you don't have kids, you are a moron and a horrible role model. You are probably one of those brainless dumbasses who uses his abilities to get in fights and bully people. Sorry excuse for a man.
