When things get you down...

b fold the truth

Elite Strongman

When things get you down...what do you do? Ever feel lost or empty? Ever feel that you just aren't good enough? Ever feel like you know EXACTLY what you want just not how to get it?

Guess I am just sitting here, mind going 50 million miles per hour, heart racing, and just feel lost...

B True

hey man, i may not be as old and wise as you, but i know exactly what you're goin through. the best you can do is just sit back, stop thinking about how you are gonna get things to come out as you have always dreamt, and just know that in the end, somehow, someway, it will all work out.

in other words, don't stress, everything will be OK, and you WILL get your way :)

Bfold, you have to be positive. In your case look how strong you became, so you know you are good enough. Sometimes major goals are hard to focus on, so make many small goals instead. In my case I am very close to benching 500 lbs{no shirt] and I would like to be one of the few dudes over 50 to bench 600, I still have a few more years, LOL. remember, baby steps....

'tis like this topic was put here on purpose. I've been stressin' over alot of stuff lately, and the way you both worded things describes what I'm going through perfectly, but also what EVERYONE'S been telling me to get through it. Just be positive and think that everything, in the end, will work out. I just hope that proves to be true. Young love is rough.

B...
I have occasional depression and anxiety problems.. not bad enough to need drugs or anything like that...
Sometimes I feel like I'm going nuts... like the things in life that I want are impossible to achieve or that things aren't going the way I want...
When you start trying to judge stuff and try to figure things out that just aren't ment to be figured out.. you start to mess with your own head.
Think about your accomplishments... you went from what... 175-285... There are not a lot of people who have the dedication and motivation to even gain half that size...
Dude.. if you can do that, I don't think there is much you can't do...
Everyone on this board looks up to you, you are not only a kind hearted man, you are a massive role model for many people on this board..
Just think of your accomplishments this far and then set your next goal... I believe you can do anything you put your mind to...
You motivate me, to break my back in the gym everyday...
Take things one step at a time.. and everything will go great...
THANKS
Ryan

My size and strength means nothing. It can all be taken away from me at the drop of a hat. Your health can be here and gone...very quickly.

B True

Then just remain healthy. Don't think negative. It'll just depress you further, and you'll be stuck in that pit of despair for an even longer time. Trust me, I know.

I have been sick for a week...

B True

Brotha...the things that we do have are often overlooked when we think of what we don't have. You have the opportunity to be an Elite Strength Athlete. You have a gift, and it is something that you enjoy...a very powerful combination.

Think of the things that you do have. Your strengths, your gifts, your blessing. Cling to these...and cling to your friends. The rest will sort itself out.

You won't be sick forever.

You will get better.

You will get stronger.

Focus on the coming positive's. Not on the current negatives.

People can keep themselves sick, or they can fight to get better. The correct state of mind is more powerful than many imagine.

WILL yourself back to health. It's quicker than waiting.

I understand your not wanting to talk about it. That sucks man, I'm sorry to hear that. I guess the best advice I can give is to just keep telling yourself everything will be alright, and try to relax. Be positive and get in the right mind set. If you've overcome obstacles before in life, why not this one, right? Heh, uhm well... I do hope things better themselves for you.

whenever i feel really down, it's normally because i have too much idle time ALONE. sometimes you just have to get out and see a movie or drink a beer or just have some sort of fun. you're headed for success. it's obvious. maybe you've been too apollonian lately.

I guess that I am just a little sick and don't feel well. Have had a few small health problems over the past several years and the last time I had problems I lost about 30 pounds in only a couple of weeks. That fear really bothers me...a lot.

Sometimes the training is all that I really have in my life. When that is taken away from me, I don't know what I will do. I don't know what I will be worth even to myself. Lifting is all that I have been really good at for the past 9 years...and without it I just don't feel really important...

B True

Do you have a wife and kids? Or just really close friends? I'm sure you have family still right? Ask all them if you're important. Ask if they want you around. If they all neglect you, then go ahead and think that way. But as long as people want and need you around, I think you should try to think a bit more positive. Come on, use your family and friends for motivation. Human emotion is a pretty damn strong tool when used properly. Wow, that all came outta no where. ^^;

Hey bro, we all get like this. We all fear that if we don't have a certain something, we have nothing. Don't let a possible 30lb losss get to you. I know that might seem insane to say, but you will gain it back. Keep your head up man. And if worse comes to worse, go back into your garage like a freaking madman. Our sport is a continuous struggle, B. And finally, dude, don't say you'd have nothing, and that you won't feel important. You're important to all of us here man. You're a huge inspiration, one of nicest people like ever, and you're a great friend to a lot of us.

keep your head up clint. like i told you the other night. everything is going to be ok. the things we talked about will happen, it just takes a little time.

take a break for a few days and talk to friends and family. everyone who is serious about training gets into a funk. if you need to talk, talk to the old Lady about it. I know it might not mean much now but everyone is pulling for you right here at EF. give a pm if you want I'll be here all day....

I have been feeling like this lately to bro. So I have turned massively toward God for help. It is a shame that I don't converse with Him as much when things are going my way. From what I remembered you are a Christian and He is there for you dude when you are down and up for that matter.

GOD is always the best plan............. you and i both know this.

hey.......... these guys are right............. go spend the weekend with someone you care about and most importantly cares about you............. someone who cares about the man......... not the strength athlete.........

i will pray for you.

In the short time I've been here, you've easily become one of my favorite posters.

Not because of your immense physical accomplishments or all of the cool stuff you do, but because you're such a good person. It sounds funny to say that being new, but I can just tell.

You have a lot more going going for you than a 675 lb. dead, I assure you.

I get depressed as fuck and so anxiety-afflicted that I cannot leave my house sometimes except to go to work and school. This is caused by (I THINK) mind-racing and endless worry over things that do not matter in the big picture. I don't really know what to tell you except that you must enjoy the good things in life when they happen to come by you (rare for me) and use the mental pain and suffering as a strengthener. I still haven't found a real answer, though. Maybe you need to re-evaluate things in your life and make some changes. Peace.

Dude, I can totally relate to that statement. I even have a hard time going to work. I just don't want to get out of bed lately. How do you concentrate feeling like that because I have a heck of a time.

That sounds like some good advice and hope things get better for you too dude.

Yeah, I am hurting pretty bad right now and have been for the whole summer and I don't know why. Sometimes it is hard to admit these things but there is always light at the end of the tunnel. It is just difficult to truck through the shit when it lasts so damned long and is really painful. A lot of the time I am going along in my life and think to myself that "if there is a god then he is punishing me constantly". That is a line from a pantera song, just to give credit to its source.

Peace and thank you for allowing me to voice myself.

Well since I know a little about pantera's lifestyle, phil might be on to something there. Maybe God really is.

Peace and thank you for allowing me to voice myself. [/B]

No problem bro. And I will pray that God eases your depression too.

I hear you bro, I define so much of who I am by being a bodybuilder that I have no idea what would happen to me if I couldn't do it anymore. But all else failing you've got a great woman to stand behind you, that is what gets me through the tough times!

B...
if something can help you, to relax a bit... take a sort of vacation and then think what you can do and take steps to achieve it. Something that I admire from you is the dedication and enthusiasm you always put to achieve your goals... it may be now a hard moment, and sometimes when we have lots of things stressing us it is difficult to find a right away solution... however, taking a time to truly relax can give us a different perspective on how to approach things and solve them.

The newbies, think of them. You've brought joy to them in the world of weightlifting. Just look at all the responses you get when you're down. There's all kinds of sucess in life. Don't worry, be happy.:)

same here. training and bodybuilding and eating seems all that i have goin for me. i know that sounds pretty bad lol. ahhh but so what it aint all that bad, it would just really suck if it all was gone. i think i would have like next to no confidence in my self if i didnt lift i would be depressed as hell, i would probably be one of those 900 pound fat asses you see on jerry springer that only eats food and milkshakes all day and masterbates and gets drunk 24/7.:insane: :insane: :insane: i think maybe your just missin your girl man. i know if i dont have a female friend around i get lonley extremely fast. maybe you should break up with her and meet new women? i dont know your situation though man. best of luck. oh by the way johnny perry the usa's strongest man is tippin the scales at about 380 now at 6feet7 hes near me in North Carolina. but remember this beast is juiced to the max, maybe somethin to think about, but id rather see you stay natural

Yes...

I want to add that hormonal manipulation (ie steroids and the like) are not a good thing to accompany mental illness, whether it be a "stormy weather" temporary thing or a long-term deal. I always feel better mentally when I am free of all drugs...although that is not often. I don't know you personally, BFold, but you are a genetic wonder and seem to train like a MF'er, you are strong and have A LOT going for you it seems. Your reality is a dream compared to most. Please remember this and do not feel bad due to a short layoff of the lifting. A man of your character (based on what I have read from your posts) has a lot to offer society and the world in general. You are successful as a person and will continue to be as such. I really have no reason/right to be saying this to you since I do not know you well, but this is a public forum and I enjoy the somewhat free-speech that has been granted to us americans. Continue to be honest and good willed and it will pay off tenfold.

Peace.

i could sing you a song...

Here's a little song, I wrote
I might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy
Every life we has some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy ho…
(Don't worry, be happy yeah)
Uh uh uh uh don't worry be happy….(4x)
I arco place who lay your head
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
Hey may have to lit the gate
Don't worry, be happy (look at me I'm happy)
Uh uh…,don't worry, be happy

No need to be down B, you know you've got a lot going for you... and besides... the whole negative attitude will keep you sick longer. Be positive, and live well
