What's the best excersise to work lower lumber.

For years i have had a recurant lower lumber weakness. Does anybody have any ideas on how to strenghten that area, or is it a weakness in my abs that is causing my back to overcompensate.
 
Reverse hypers and lots of hard ab training....

Definately deadlifts. I too have a muscular imbalance in the lumber region and deadlifts have strengthened the area unbelievably. Be careful with hypers and good mornings.

Stiff legged deads, reverse hypers, heavy ab work, good mornings. You'll have pillars for lower erectors:)
 
Stiff legged deadlifts, deadlifts, good mornings. If you're new to those exercises I'd advise starting slow and easy and gradually work into some heavy weights.

Good point I neglected to add. Take it from someone with 2 crushed discs....follow midwest's advice. Take it easy. You'd be amazed how much you use your back for after you injure it.
 
yes... START SLOW...

I am currently in lots and lots of pain... THANK GOD it's just muscle pain... (I should have known better) I just did some killer straight legged deads tuesday, and It still hurts like hell!!!

also, what are hyper-extends and reverese hyper-extends... many times, people have talked about these, I've asked before but know one can give me a good answer
