What would be your top choices if you were getting a new computer?

yeah....

i found a company that sold components fairly cheaply and told them to stick it together for a small fee, even got em to whack in windows and shit (didnt have 98 and its dirt cheap with a new pc)....

beware though, a cousin of min had all kinds of problems, and when i got mine the first time the RAM kept popping out (poor connectors) so they stuck in a new one and it was all good. oh and they forgot ot stick in my modem but i dd that. well worth it though!

Well if you want to go with a Dell, and shit overseas wherever you are is that expensive then go for it, but be warned, you cant change bios settings on Dell comps as far as I know, and I'm pretty sure the motherboards have integrated compnents, meaning if one thing goes bad, then you have to change the whole board...Not bad if you have a warranty tho.

The best thing to do as the others suggested is to have someone that you know in a comp. field to build one for ya. My friend is going to build me a 900mhz AMD comp with all the extra's for around $600...If you want to go bigger than that you will spend a little more but, you would never spend more than about $1000....

Just Remember that AMD is starting to lead the comp. chip race so if you go big get the AMD because right now they are outperforming the Pentium's..Seriously!

P.S.-->The same computer in the store would have cost me about $1000 plus $200-$300 for the monitor..

:D

IF YOU DONT WANT TO BUILD ONE, GO WITH DELL OR GATEWAY. CUSTOM BUILT IS THE BEST CHOICE THOUGH.

Thanks for the info, fellas. I'll make my rounds tomorrow to see what I can find, for the best price. Right now I'm kind of leaning toward the Dell, because I don't really know enough about computers yet to build my own, and I need another one really soon for school.

Thanks again,
stretch

Intel said that they were going to drop the p4 price about 400 dollars to regain the marketshare they lost and increase sales in the slowing economy. I would wait about a month for this to happen.
