What to eat pre-workout

How many people here eat something before their workouts? I need some ideas for a food or supplement to give me more of a pump in the muscle I'm working as well as better energy levels throughout my workout.

Personally, I work out right away in the morning so I don't eat anything until a half hour after I am all done. I am usually not hungry either while working out. For more energy goes--that will come as soon as you get used to your new routine.

A good pre-workout snack is a nice (all natural) granola bar. Mm-mm! Lots of complex carbs, keeps ya going!

However, a really good "trick" (at least I hope; it's what I do) is to sneak some Sweethearts into the gym, along with a protein drink. This replenishes glycogen stores while working out, instead of after.

it depends on your goals really...

if you want mass, you should eat some protein and carbs (preferably complex) an hour or so before you hit the weights...although I've heard people say you should have simple carbs....but just try different things and see what works best for you...

if you want to lose bodyfat your probably better off doing cardio on an empty stomach....or have a sensible breakfast and then wait two or three hours before the cardio....

...and you should always get protein and simple carbs into your body immediately after a workout - and I'm talking immediately!!
