OMG, any of you guys who have said in this thread that you could give Tyson a go is a complete idiot. Shame on me for even replying to this nonsense.

They will get taken to the ground where all there skills standing up are taken away. Man,*L* that was against Green, another pro boxer. Mike crushed him and the guy was knocked pretty much the fuck out. I remember seeing the guys eye, worst looking punched eye i've ever seen. Some of you that have little to no fight training compared to this guy that arent even let alone fighters are saying OH i can take him lol idiots. As far as a world class grappler vs Mike, like royce for example, who knows how that shit would go. Some of you guys are unbelievable - not only did Iron Mike grow up living on the streets of Catskill, which I assume is one of the rougher areas of NY until he was adopted by Cus D' amato, he spent six years in a state penn full of some pretty scary motherfuckers, do any of you guys really think that he was anyone's bitch while doing his time??? - don't think so, so wise the fuck up!
The reports are that at 13 Tyson was very big for his age and throwing punches in sparring sessions that hurt experienced amateurs who were larger and many years older. Ever since I can remember, he has been big and very well developed. He doesn't look much different to me than he ever did, but I don't doubt the possibility, especially when it comes to drugs primarily for aggresiveness.
Secondly, given where he came from, there is no doubt he's been in his share of street fights in his life. Funny thing is, nobody has ever come forward publicly to tell their story of how they kicked his ass. How many of us wouldn't, if we had? And you're gonna tell me that no one ever tried to tackle him or do any kind of lower body wrestling takedown? It's possible, but I doubt it. Some of the best freestyle wrestlers in the world with the quickest, most powerful takedowns have gotten tagged and KO'd while shooting in on guys in No Holds Barred with less hand speed and power than Tyson. The "grapplers will beat Mike" thread is useless, but I can't resist the troll. When I used to watch UFC even the most inept boxers would get at least 4 or 5 punches in, and there's no way any of them will take 4 or 5 from the Iron. He will not "figure you out". He will not be "bewildered by your tactics". He will not be "impressed by your heart and spirit", because those are the actions of a rational man.
Early on we're all tough guys, then we meet someone tougher (bully/teacher/trainer) and learn a good lesson. Did he? Fuck, if he wanted to be invincible he'd train harder. He truly believes it and can back it up.
But seriously now, without some good long fights he's getting "soft" compared to his earlier form and desire. In a year, two at most, he WILL get beaten and maybe knocked down if it isn't rigged. Then he'll train his ass off, and God Help the next sucker he fights, cause he'll be really pissed.

LMAO....he did not grow up in catskill...he moved there with his trainer which is about 150miles from anyting rough....hes from brooklyn.....his trainer found him and took him outta there....

At his peak he was untouchable and i include any boxer from any era....in my eyes maybe, just maybe an Ali in his prime would have the noose and skill to try and deal with him..anyone else forget about it!!!

Who cares now anyways. Mixed Martial Artists, like the gracies, would destroy tyson in a fight anyway. Sure he could knock anyone out if he got a solid shot in, but he wouldn't against a lot of those guys.

His combination of strength and rage dominated boxing for years, till he met boxers who were skilled and didn't fall for that early trading of blows BS he sucked people into. If you look at his fight record though, he fought A LOT of chumps. He pretty much lost against all the top boxers he fought. I love watching him fight, because of his power, but as a pure skilled boxer, he was WAY WAY overated.
