What kinda cardio do you do?

I started cardio a couple weeks ago in order to start cutting (along with getting my diet in order) and I started out jogging around the block for a mile. It kinda hurt my knees so I figured I'd try one of those elliptical machines at the gym or a treadmill. Last week I tried an elliptical, and it was damn hard... of course, I didn't really know how to set up the freakin thing and I found out that the resistance was set high, but even after I figured out how to lower the resistance, I noticed my heart rate was way too high (out of my target zone). I tried out a treadmill and walking pretty fast I can get within my target zone.

Now, I've been reading threads where people go for 45 minutes. I can barely do 30 now. So...I want to know when you guys are doing cardio to burn fat, are ya running, or walking, and for how long? I mean, I guess all that matters is that I get within my target heart rate but, I'd like to compare my overall "fitness" with the rest of you guys. I feel like a wuss walking on a treadmill :bawling: :)

it's just like anything... your body will begin to adapt as you do more and more cardio.... i personally think that it doesn't matter what kind of cardio you do, just as long as you get your HR up -- does your body really know what type of cardio it's doing??

right now, I am doing treadmill a couple of times a week (getting ready for a physical readiness test for the navy -- otherwise i would never run... feel it's too damaging) and intervals on the recumbent bike... like anything, just dont overdo it and you'll be fine!

I agree that your body dosent know what type of cardio its doing, but some forms burn way more calories per minute than others. Therefore if you only want to go for 30 minutes you might as well go for a higher burning activity.

Personally I find step/elliptical machines burn way more since you have to support your own weight (unlike Bike machines).
