Keeping up the habit of working out every day is tough for most of us. What are some ways you keep yourself motivated to hit the gym on your off-days?

Lifting heavy ass weights and hitting PRs

Watching youtube videos of peole lifting heavy ass weights

Talking to other lifters who are jacked

Seeing someone bigger or sronger than me, makes me mad and strive to be bigger and stronger than everyone. I also just take pride in being a big guy and the gym is one of the only thing that relaxes me, i need it to cope.

All of you guys around me. The friends, family, the team. All of ef and others sites I am a part of ( ef tis the best though) and all the people I help and the good bro's before my time who helped me.

I used to be fat and never want to be that way again.
I like being strong for life, for work, for anything that comes along.
Keeping my energy level and metabolism up.
I dont mind look good either.
Challenging myself.
I dont have anything better to do with my free time. It makes me feel productive

Its my lifestyle I love this shit.

I want to be the best I can be, thats what motivates me
:garza:

If I dont feel like training for whatever reason it may be, I dont. It doesnt happen much

man, training is a way of life for me. started 49 years ago in gymnastics when i was 5. swam, soccer, baseball, then running, hockey, cycling.. always lifting to be better at these sports. only days off are scheduled days off. another thing, i love seeing the 20-30-40 year olds with a gut and gigantic love handles. so many like this.. i got 6 abs from ab training 49 years. i got low body fat, i'm lean and strong, and i worked lots of years for this look...and made it to a very high level in sports.. train very very hard, eat well, rest. very simple.

That's awesome! Since you've been training most of your life, your motivation sounds "ingrained"... I wish it was that easy for me! :)

Hey ExtraMile,

You had mentioned that you like being bigger and stronger than your friends - is it more of a "competition"? How do you track your progression?

Im pretty competitive so yeah I guess the competititive side of it motivates me too. But originally when I wrote that it wasnt cause I see myself beating all my friends, it was cause it feels awesome to know you stand out as being the biggest when your in a croud of friends...

#1, My wife grabbing me when I take my shirt off

#2, College football players asking me what's my secret, and what I'm doing to be in the shape I'm in, at age 43

The best motivation for me is someone being honost and telling me what i have to work on. for example

You need bigger arms cause it doesnt suit your back and chest
That guys bigger then you
What happened you shrunk (sometimes people joke with this)

things like this always get the best of you and motivates you to push harder and be the best that you can be

I think everyone's main motivation should be themselves. You should want to look good and be healthy for yourself before anyone else, but also definitely for the person your with. I was slacking for a while a few months back, and my main motivation to go hard & get into a healthy workout and diet routine was the thought that I'd be able to put on something sexy for my boyfriend and he wouldn't be able to keep his hands off of me. :)
