Statistically speaking, men do cheat more often than women.

I'm gonna call bullshit on that. Women are much better at hiding and lying about it. A majority of the women I've "dated" had boyfriends, were engaged, or flat out married. And plenty were the, "oh she's so sweet and innocent" types. Blah

Choosing one person for life isn't really that big a problem. People get to know each other over the years - learn to love each other more. The problem is that most people choose the wrong person. We (or at least most people I know) are usually attracted to the worst person for them. Then comes getting cheated on, cheating.
The boys I pick aren’t good for the long term.
I’m sure it is the same for most people.
Maybe it is a way of protecting yourself from getting too attached.

people who aren't too bright find themselves getting attached to the wrong people all the time. there is a lack of emotional intelligence and control there. a lot has to do with the chemicals that get released in the brain when you get those romantic feelings for the person, and your individual ability to control yourself. not everyone has the same level of control. and you can learn overtime to better control yourself by recognizing what's going on rather than being completely blind. i know this because I was once very blind and stupid and lacking in emotional intelligence and made about a million and one bad decisions and only recently in the past 5 or so years have I figured that out and learned to be more cognizant and less fucking stupid.

I tend to agree that the notion of love is man-made.

it's just a notion or a perception, but there is no logical realness to it.
