Having brought the issue up, I suppose the next step is to opine about what should be done about it. This is where the loony left and the rigid right usually converge and agree "there oughtta be a law..." I suggest leaving it in private hands. Let the zealots and crusaders make the world aware of the problem, publicize and shame the practitioners, promote education, in the vain hope that Cameroon and other countries will discourage or outlaw these practices on a local level.

I think it's different between saddam & the chinese babies.
saddam tried to kill off whole populations inhis country. Just because it's his country doesn't make it acceptable. The purported Chinese baby girl situation is not a government mandate or policy. It is a cultural thing based on the premise that male children are more valuable than female.

I can condemn killing and maiming children. Give me a break. It's just wrong. It doesn't make anyone appear more enlightened to say, "oh, it's their culture and I'm open minded." Genocide and terror are some countries policy, and we all know as human beings that it is wrong.

Use your brain. There is no cultural exemption for human rights abuses. Murder, rape, torture, and slavery do not become acceptable depending on geography. That's the simple part.

Somewhat more difficult to grasp for some is the notion that there are such things as superior cultures. We aren't required to pretend otherwise. Cultures that value human rights are superior to those who don't. Societies that don't sell 10yr old girls into slavery as prostitutes are "better" than those which do. Tolerance of foreign cultures doesn't require that we suspend all reason and basic decency.

nowhere did I say I agree,I just stated that it isnt my place nor anyone who lives a different lifestyle to try and enforce our beliefs on anyone else.
