Well I'm a wannabe powerlifter not a bodybuilder but I'll answer anyway. Originally I started just to gain strength because I worked on construction sites from a young age. Later on I started taking it more seriously because I trained in BJJ. The extra strength enabled me to take on guys far bigger than me in training.

As far as mistakes go....training like a bodybuilder was a big mistake. Thats ok if you want to get big.....but I train for functional strength not looks. Despite what some bodybuilders will tell you, the bigger man/woman isnt always the strongest. Another mistake was wasting to much time and money on musclemags and supplements when I was to young to know better.

Goals......hmmmm. To be the best powerlifter in my weight class (currently 220)....I have a long way to go :) To nail a triple bodyweight bench press....and to deadlift over 720 (my traiing partners best lift when he won the nationals a few years ago). Uhmm what else? To continue to prove everybody who doubts my ability (at anything) wrong....

Hello all!

What got you into lifting? What mistakes did you make first, how did you correct them? What are your goals in bodybuilding?

reply please!

i got fat... went to the gym... got addicted to it... not much else to say...

made, and continue to make mistakes daily... i just make sure i learn from them! (just the other day i racked a 45lb db on my finger... owwwiie... lesson learned, pay attention when racking weights... just cuz the sets done does mean the work's done)... purple finger war wound chalked up to that one :)

i guess the most important lesson that i learned is to use proper form and know your limitations.... even then, injuries may happen... don't let them get you down, heal and return...

goals, to achieve the best possible body i can, maybe compete one day...

i first started a year or so ago, im not sure if this has got anythign to do with why i started pumping, but i was at a party once, and i sort of got with these two girls who sort of had these other guys after them, one was a ratta but the other was just a little intimidating, then i started going to the gym with some friends, realised after a couple of weeks that they didnt know what the hell they were doing in there- i read heaps, started working out properly, eating right, was introduced to protein powder and creatine, had a growth spurt, started getting bigger, got hooked and now im addicted. except now my gym is A BLOODY HEALTH CLUB WITHOUT A BENCHPRESS, its a hell good feeling, wearing a shirt that shows off all the hard work, people commenting, fuck- its unreal.
