Ah, screw it! Those pop tarts were YUMMY this morning. :p
I remember as a kid once i put in some pop tarts in the toaster, started watching looney toons or something and the next thing I knew the fire alarm was going off. Damn things caught on fire. I quickly put it out and was running late for the bus. Left a mess for mom.

You like to post articles which anyone can refute with a couple of their own, then stop talking about it. Nice.

doesnt that stuff have to be alive to kill it?

By "kill", I assume they are referring to denaturing the proteins, molecules, etc... In essence, rendering them useless. Same thing happens when you cook a steak. By cooking a steak, you are denaturing some of the proteins, making some of them useless from a protein absorption/ bioavailability standpoint. Those proteins weren't "alive" when you bought the steak, just intact.

Or, this describes it as well: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denaturation_(biochemistry)

haha, I was just messing with her. I've never really understood what's the problem with changing the conformation of a protein. It will end up broken down to amino acids eventually anyways, right? By intact do you mean tertiary structure or quaternary?
