What do you think is "better" for you..Honey or sugar???

my step dad made this amazing concoction for cough syrup... It was fresh honey... yes straight from the comb, those peppermint sticks that dissolve and some kind of whiskey... (not sure which one)

It may have never cured the cough, but I never knew I was coughing once it set in. He had jars and jars of it... and yes of course I'd just drink it by the glass full. LOL

heating will kill the enzymes, wont affect the vitamin content, and may actually increase the antioxidant content.

but whatever, like you said, it's still sugar

We must have read different things.

:)

Honey is pedominantly MADE of sugar. If you are asking if honey is better for you than REFINED sugar, my inclination si to say yes for the above reasons - antioxidant benefits, etc.

Is sugar good for you though? Not really. We need it of course but we get most of what we need through other foods. It isn't bad for people or anything in reasonable amounts but I don't think the human body was designed to take in lots of sugar - ditto salts. That is why they taste so good to us - they are relatively rare in nature and so when we come across them we are meant to be drawn to it and to take lots in since we prolly won't find anymore for a while. In modern society, however, we have learned to synthesize these things and this is why everyone is so damn fat. Stuff we were never meant to eat lots of is now far too abundant. Do you need straight sugar on a daily basis? Everyone knows the answer to that. It is energy. That is all.
