lets leave religious beliefs out of this, im not trying to spark some religious depate.

but seriously what do yo believe will happen after you die. I'd like to know?

Typically there are three answers.

1. Nothing you just die.
2. Some sort of afterlife.
3. Some venue of reincarnation.

I like the Viking view that the worthy go to train and fight everyday to die and be reborn at night until the end of the world.

Cheers,
Scotsman

After you die, you spend eternity either in heaven or burning in hell.

i honestly believe that once i die, I will have lost all sense of time which will give me this weird feeling that because I have no sense of time being or have passed its existance, than time must have already been or past existed. Thus, time has fast forwarded to the point of which some other higher being bases an opinion upon their logic and tells us as a soul that we either are or arent worthy of ascending to a higher plain of existance. Not necessarily a heaven, but a place that provides more peace of mind for the souls deserving.

nothing. I hate to say it, but we just die. Like a computer when turned off. I know that isn't what anyone wants to hear, but we truly do only have one life.

no such thing, this thing you call dead, death, just a word...its a topic of the ages

First off, you are the creator, you created the reality you perceive, you created this, this world, this world in your mind'seye. All bioelectrochemessages, the whole body can be grown in a lab, any part of it given the limits of ethical restrictions. like growing a whole body with out a head is possible.
Jokes aside, the ethical dilemmas or may not be dilemmas whatsoever is that you can keep a closet full of genetic clone bodies, and then just get a new heart when your fails, slip it in, , new liver etc... the everything just about can be transplanted and with genetic matching there is no immune suppression therapy issues b/c there is no rejection issues.
So, you could take the liver out of your headless clones body after a lifetime of drinking alcohol like a fish and just put in a new one, as easy as changing a sparkplug. No meds, a scar, but just like reattaching an artery and a vein and there ya go.
When the patient with thirty years of life in a liver dies naturally fifty years ago, now can get a new one. Did she die at the moment they took out her dead liver and replaced it with someone elses? Or more likely she is still alive and soul intact. What is a soul? A soul a collective "You" with all variables, coordinates, xyz time etc... is a label to encapsulate you.
THe more easily term is a frequency or a wave, but frequency is specific, youve got to be specific. The whole thing gets complicated from this point forward, so ill ponder later, but lets call a soul a frequency for jargon to physics use, it makes it easier to explain. ITs all energy, were all part of one, were all absorbed back into the same, its all the same, well pretty close, different frequencies separate us

I agree....our spirits/souls move on to another realm of consciousness....we live here today on a certain frequency- we leave this an go onto another.

Theres an afterlife , i was at the door ,they wouldn't let me in.

by leaving all religion aside I mean, I didn't want this to become a religious thread gone bad.

Every religion surely has their own idea of what happens.

oh yes, all of them are just equations like math or story problems and can be written out. Im not going to but someone can and the variables a or b or c, can represent this or that. Lots of functions, within certain parameters, that type of fuzzy math and you still get the same thing answer...

you cant divide by zero b/c zero doesnt exist but if you count back eight words, who put that there, the zero exists and you can do anything, but..? Something from nothing, its a +/- equation, some plus believe me, that God is speaking to you through the internet and others choose negative, its all bullshit.
you see its all about what you believe, if you believe + then you are right, if you believe -, then you are right

If we are all one, God created us all, we are all one then one day you realize, its going to all be ok in the end no matter what you fucked up as long as you tried, even the fuckedup ones played "their part" without their contribution to the equations it wouldnt equal out.So people fuck up but play a part for someone else to come along and do good karma and get good with god, people go around making bad karma, others have to good deeds to correct for that so the equation always balances out.
ITs all about balance, thats what GOD is, but he's a slippery devil, he's Irish

I agree with you 100%

I wonder how many here believe that after they die they go to a place with hundreds of virgins... and how are all these women still virgins if every man that dies for 'his country' goes there. :verygood:

All I can say is that when I had my near death experience with respiratory collapse, there was alot more and I can never put it into words, and I work in cardiac medicine, did a unsuccessful code last week that I happened to be late for b/c no one told me it was stat, a fubared situation when I immediately say pulmonary embolus but I shoulda said that fifteen minutes before if the communications worked out. Everyone doing their lil bit of karma and not doing karma, ends up somewhere, not doing the lil extra job of doing things or fixing things or helping people, it all ends up in one place in the end, BUT thats if you have bad karma, which is impossible

I believe in a life after death ... a heaven and hell. I am not a devout Christian, but I have a quiet, simple faith.

I believe in forgiveness and love. Without forgiveness and love, there is no heavenly afterlife ... There is hell. Fortuneately, forgiveness and love is never denied to us if we simply ask. And every day I ask forgiveness because every day I sin.

The heavenly afterlife for me means ... seeing in spirit the Creator and all the family, people and even animals I've known ... And having the time to really get to know and be with them ... with no hatred or anger ... To have solved all the mysteries.

And to be there to prepare and welcome the earthly ones I love now when it is their time.

Wow, that must be hard to deal with, I knwo it would be for me. I couldn't work in medicine, i think i'd take things to personal. Esp in life/death situations.

My wife jokes I'll come back as a cat. I guess b/c all of our cats are always around me playing and loving on me but hardly give her the time of day. This is true alot of times w/ other peoples cats. Don't no why, but I have some wierd way of communicating w/ them. Whatever happens, I hope we figure the meaning of life and why we're here.

nothing:people like me go to hell

Only the body dies. It is a shell. The things which made up that individual and made them unique are kept alive in the memories of those they left behind. As long as someone remembers, they will always remain alive. I'm not a religious person but if you wanted to equate this to a heaven or hell then both are within my mind and my heart as that is where the people I have lost now reside. I remember the good and the bad times and I remember them. One day I will join them in the mind and heart of my children and so, on and on it goes.

After you die, hopefully your memory still lives on in the lives of all the people you have been in contact with. Free of body, sure, but you will not be forgotten and the afterlife is promised to be milk and honey.....

you don`t gain weight in heaven or hell....In hell your sweatin` that shit out all the time and heaven is floating and flying so maybe you can`t gain any lbs....

Ok, how's this, even IF there is a heaven and hell. We all go to heaven. We are only how god chose us to be, so there for it's his fault that I sinned and he has to accept me. And if we screw up in heaven, then we go to hell.

I heard it put that way once on tv. Do I believe it, no, but just something i've heard.

Yes I do believe, try to anyways, but I accept science more.

We are just like every other living thing on this planet. Some are higher than others in the food chain, we just happen to be on top of the mountain.

I think there has to be an afterlife. Otherwise, all the trials and trouble we go through in life has been a complete waste of time.

your soul floats towards the light whereupon you are judged by your past deeds and either welcomed by the angel Gabriel with cocktails and snacks as you enter the pearly gates of heaven or cast down into the fiery torments of hell to be buggered eternally by Satan and his pals

isn't that the standard line you get from the pulpit?

Have to spread Karma!

Its not too bad down south where I am now, but that cold North breeze coming into Mackem-land makes me glad to be somewhere else!!!!

This is my view exactly as well. In essence, this is reincarnation.

I believe that the instant you die, you are reborn into another existence... another reality... another realm... another life... another time... another place.

I also believe in "karma". What we do in this life and this lifetime will affect where we go in our next. If we do good in this life, we will be reborn into a better reality the next time and vice versa.

When I think back to the very first memory I can recall in this lifetime, I think that at that moment in time is when I came into "living" in this reality.

Do that yourself. Try to think as far back as possible to the very first memory you ever had. What do you recollect? At that moment in time is when you came into existence into this world/realm/reality.

Oh and btw, did I say anything about the fact that there are gonna be alot of very surprised people in the world when they kick the bucket??

I dont think you ever die,our bodies have energy in them and that energy never dies, its not possible,so be it that your a spirit wondering or whatever your always around

Show me the proof of a heaven or hell. Don't give me the bs line you just gotta believe or you got to have faith. Many things can be proven heaven and hell cannot!

No debate from me. I believe in Heaven & Hell. I believe that the only way that humankind can have a relationship with their creator is through God's son Jesus Christ. That's just me. Why do the traditional Christian beliefs and none of the others mentioned above provoke you in this manner?

When you die, that is it. Oblivion. What you do in life is everything. The only afterlife you have is what people say about you once you are gone.

Too many people believe what they are told is true. And they just take for granted what they were told is correct. All I have to say is show me the proof. If it can be proven then I will believe. No big deal to each his own.

As the brain stops receiving oxygen the quantum wavefront that is your central self/concious will begin to degrade. In short, you go insane very quickly, followed by a sort of non-existance. However, due to the way that quantumness is, our brains really are the focal point of many possible realities or universes. So your energy may persist in several different universes, but your nice electrochemical carrier of a brain in this universe will loose its life and turn into decaying proteins, gasses, and water.

I know the answer and I will sell it for only $999.00. Hey, that's a helluva lot better deal than Scientology offers. ;)

i died once. seriously. i went out drinking and ended up at a party playing the drinking game 3 man. well you get pretty fugged up during this game. so at about 1 am me and some buddies decided to leave, go get a case of beer (like we needed it) and head to the beach. when we get there i decided to go swimming. well i didnt know that we were at an old coast guard station and the pier that was made of cement was broken up and in peices in the water. well at 1 or 2 am you cant see shit so i dove in hit my head split it open and cant remeber much after that. they said they revived me 3 times in the ambulance. i flatlined 3 times. i ended up at the hospital on a resperator in intensive care for 2 weeks unable to breath on my own. well as you can see i made it through. but i have seen the other side.

yes i do. the truth is when i was dead i thought i was just sleeping. they woke me with the pressing on my chest and shoving air into my lungs. i kept hitting them away cause i just wanted to sleep. the fact was i was dieing. i dont remember any lights or anything like that. it was weird. then i lost the ability to breath on my own so they shoved the tube down my throat through a hole they cut open in my kneck.

ever since then i realized there was much better things in life than drinking and partying. i still drink but i keep it under control now. that was when i was 18 years old. my blood alcohol content was .19 and that was 3 hours after i stopped drinking. this is why i try to help whoever i can whenever i can. life is short and i almost didnt make it...

what happens to all other things living, do they move on to a heaven or a hell too??

Picture a solid mass, but this is no ordinary viewpoint, your eye is firmly pressed against it to look at it, right there, scrunched, b/c there is no place to view other than within it. This is the universe that we live in. You pressing your eye against that mass, it pressing back, reflecting back at you, both reflectors, reflecting nothing. Nothing, there is nothing. YOU are a frequency, the mass is a frequency, the frequencies are just a reflector to bounce off.
This Mass that contains your eye, your body, everything, everyone around you, all known existance. There is nothing else, not a sound to be heard......

except, there, in the distance, but there is no distance outside of the mass you say, ok, there within the mass, in the swirling of whatever a mass of frequencies might look like, I want you to picture an asian woman and a white man staring at each other, intensity is their gaze. Long and hard and intense. The Asian woman is named Yin and the white man is named Yang, the asian woman is also called a positive matter and the white man is negative matter, opposing forces, they are in B-A-L-A-N-C-E staring at each other. It grows tiresome and monotonous staring at each other, you catch her eye A GREAT FLASH OF LIGHT HITS YOUR EYE, YOUR REFLECTOR!!
It immediately bounces to the reflectors in all of the solid mass, then BOOM, the frequencies spring to life and push apart from each other. All things sprang forth, in infinite frequencies. You see GOD, had within him the asian woman and the white man, they were inside of him b/c it was impossible to be outside of it all. So, he looked within himself and caught his own glance and purposely maybe untipped the scales within himself and the cataclysmic chain reaction, matter/antimatter reactions, explosions, all of it, spread out as God Annihilated himself to bring you life. All particles and bits return to the source, but thing of it as not like particles more like frequencies of light. You see, the light you see, thats GOD's energy, why do you ask do I know its GOD's energy, b/c I wrote the story and the equation I made sure to include that light you see is GOD's light!! See it now, next time you go to the beach and watch the sun rise, stare at the sun and say there is no God, see who wins the staring contest
