Weighted dips - what is your belt setup?

I had broke my weight belt today doing weighted dips with a 45 on it. I knew it was only a matter of time before it would happen, but laziness got the best of me. now I am on a mission to find a good setup. I am thinking of getting two larger rings and attach them to my sides by my hips, and secure them around the back with chain, but that just seems like too much for something as simple as this. fellow Elite members, help a bruv man out please...

Well at my Gym we just use a normal weight belt, and then slip a thick wire cable (which has looped ends) through the belt, and hang weights of that. A dog clip holds the looped ends together - cheap and works great.

Just use a chain and a big dog clip

The wire cable doubles duty for holding weights around my ankles when doing reverse hypers on a hyper bench

thanks for the idea. I think I will go with a nylon strap and just basket it instead of using the dog clips. that is what I had used and it just opened up the ring and my belt came loose. live and learn.

The one at my gym looks like a normal weight belt, but on one end is a ring, and on the other, a long chain. You loop the chain through the ring and through the plates and hook it to the ring again. Does that make sense ... ?

That's exactly what I do at home, except I use a small chain instead of a wire cable. Works great, and that's all my belt gets used for anymore.

my school gym has no chain belt, so i just use a regular lifting belt. i use a large wide and set it so that it's on the first (loosest) notch. i take the dumbbell and put one end through the belt. when i use larger dumbells (like getting up to 90lbs), i have to set the dumbell on a bench on its end, and then strap the belt on around the handle, as the bell is to big to just slip between the belt and my body. using a belt like this works just as well as a chain belt i have found out.

Or if you aren't using much weight you can simply hold the dumbell between your ankles. Thats what I do and I have no problems with the 90 pounders, but it might get difficult if you are lifting more then that.
