Rosarito will be packed that place gets more and more ghetto with each passing year (not saying thats a bad thing). TJ will have what you need for gear, for fun you might want to keep going south - it will be packed wherever you go though I dont envy the 2 hour border crossing you will see on the way back if driving.

a tip: email someone knowledgable and ask them, I dont think too many people are watching the boards so they can offer help, but if asked Im sure theyd give you a tip or two. Good luck have fun, and strap one on.
