UFC fighters and weight lifting

Do you guys have any idea the kind of workouts they do when they lift weights? I guess they dont really bodybuild because they dont want to lose flexibility but some of the heavyweights look like bodybuilders! What do you guys think the balance is for lifting and fighters?

Any athlete can work on flexibility. Even top bodybuilders can, of they work on it, can do the splits. Even Ronnie Coleman back when he was Mr O could.

MMA/UFC guys train as all fighters do. So go watch some boxers train with weights. Stuff like small dumbbells punched out in the higher rep counts for arms, shoulders and the like will enable them to do well in heavy gloves.

Generally they do high repetition exercises or explosive power movements for low reps. They also do sledgehammer swings, kettle bells, tyre flips, sled pushing/pulling,etc. The ones that are massive and ripped used to do powerlifting/bodybuilding routines but not any more because conditioning is more important than strength and size.

that being said they'll definitely be doing the major exercises like chin ups, dips, bench press, press up, overhead press, deadlift and squat but the rep ranges/loads used won't be super heavy

if you want to be a good bicyclist, bicycle more.. a good boxer? box more.. a good UFC fighter? fight more

weight training and that sort of thing is part of their workouts but the best UFC fighters got good by fighting, not from lifting weights

They do lots of body weight and functional training because their goal is to be as strong and powerful as possible per pound of body weight.

Pull ups, push ups, kettle bell swings...things like that
