Twisted Pelvis/Posture problem

I am recovering from prolonged illnes that kept me almost bedridden for 3 years. I just started lifting 5 months ago and have gained over 40lbs. I noticed that my posture felt awkward and I had I tendency to tilt to one side especially when doing squats. I thought I was starting to get scoliosis in my back since I had had spine surgery 17 years ago, so went to an orthopedic spine specialist had X-rays and he said my spine was fine, but I appeared to have one leg longer than the other because one of my hip bones was higher than the other on the X-ray (I was not born with this). After doing some more research I think what I have is a twisted pelvis. My right hip is about an inch higher than the left when standing straight. I plan to go to a chiropractor but also I was wondering if there are any exercises that can be done to help this problem? I also have very tight hamstrings and was wondering if this can be a contributing factor.
 
The hamstrings could possibly be a contributing factor in your situation, seeing as how the hams, glutes and lowback are all tied together. I definately agree w/ you whemn it comes to seeing a chiropractor. The only other thing I would recommend is ask him for some stretches that could help w/ your situation. I used to have the same problem, so I went to my dad (also my chriopractor) and he just gave me a quick adjustment and told me the problem was that me keeping my wallet in my back-left pocket was the problem. This happens when you sit down your wallet makes your hip bones lean to one side. I'm not sure if this is your problem but that's what it sounds like to me. I'd still suggest you go see a chiropractor though.
 
how tight is your low back? hams may contribute as well.

learn some stretches for all aspects of your trunk and things. hamstring stretches, low back, abdominals, hip flexors, glutes, etc.
this will even things out and hopefully get you some flexibility out. i would use a chiropractor only if someone had a gun to my head and would pay the fricking bills to have that quack work me over the rest of my life. dont fuck with your spine, there are ways to get your posture straightened out, ya just gotta look around for the answer.

use those as keywords, it might help in a search online.
 
Yup i have somewhat twistet pelvis too, due to car accident, my left leg broke and healed to be somewhat shorter.

I do lot of stretching for the lowerback ham area

also when squatting deadlifting i carry an extra sole inside my left otomix shoe to ensure perfect posture
 
Thanks for the responses. Do any of you guys get fatigue/pain in the low back after sitting for a couple hours? I get this especially for a couple of days after I have exhausted my erectors with squats or DL.

I think my hams and low back both are very tight - I cannot get within 8 inches of touching my toes (my spine from T2 to L1 is also fused with steel rods for 17 years). I stretch almost every day but it seems it is so much more difficult to stretch a muscle out than to add size. I am thinking of perhaps using weights to stretch like in the bottom position of a stiff-leg D/L??
