Trying to put on mass

You nailed it -- I meant per exercise. :) If you do say 4 exercises per muscle group, then thats nearly 200 reps.

Got it , you say that the pyramid training is no good for gaining muscle!! Grrrr and I read in "Body for life" that it was THE way to go!
Today I went shopping for some good quality carbs (oats and brown rice) .
I'll keep on searching and thanks for your support everybody! I feel that I'm on the right track.
I'm a REAL passionate about muscle and everything related to it! But I don't have enough knowledge to put it in practice!
It looks like all you read in books and magasine is confusing me and contraditory!
I'm fighting a shitty cas of fly thing right now so I take it easy with training or it will never go away!
Do you know any good (serious no crappy girl book) book or magazine I can refere to for exercizes and nutrition ???

Regarding the pyramid training. It's not a crappy way to go. It does work. But what Sass is saying is that if you do 4 exercises for a muscle group and your doing that many sets, per exercise - that's too much. If you would go to 2 exercises and pyramid, that would be more like it.

You also have to take into consideration the muscle group you're training and what muscle groups you're trying to work on more than others. You may train lighter on muscle groups you don't feel you need as much work on, and heavier on those you want to make grow.

I think you can find your info. right here on this board. Read the posts even on the guys side, read the sticky's, all of your information is right here, you just need to search for it. There are books out there - but I don't know what they are. Maybe someone else can help with that.

If you want to grow muscle, you NEED PROTEIN! You need to be eating AT LEAST your body weight in protein per day: ie, I weigh 123 lbs, I need AT LEAST 123 grams of protein per day.

Good luck!

It is one way to go -- remember there are many ways to accomplish specific goals. BFL provides a good starting place. If you are now at the point where you have a specific goal of building mass, higher weight / lower reps will get you there.

Oxygen Mag is pretty decent. Also if you have anyone around you that does any power lifting, that might be an interesting route for you as far as strength, and also establish excellent form on the basiic core strength moves.

Also check the training board here.

I've been lifting since 1981, worked w/ 6 different trainers and prepped for 5 BB competitions under 4 different trainers. I'm still learning stuff.

Some training method work for some people and not for others, pyramid did work for me but my breakdown was much different from yours. You might want to try 5x5 training check out the training forum this also put on LBM for me too. However I am a meso so for me as long as I lift heavy enough putting on LBM is easy. We are all different and not one thing works for everyone. In terms of diet I would get the e-book feed the fat burn the muscle. I am reading it as we speak. Most of the info is a lot I knew all ready just putting it all together. For training ideas look now further then this very board tons of info here. Check out peoples logs ready what they are doing and why. In the end it is a matter of putting it into practice and seeing what does and does not work for you.
