Triceps training...closegrips first, or after other movements?

I'd like to start doing some heavy closegrips for triceps. I'm traing shoulders and arms on the same day.

Do you guys prefer to do closegrips first in the tricep workout, or do you like to prefatigue them by doing another excersize first?

I'm say do the heavy compound movements first, then brush up with a few accessory exercises. Just make sure you stretch beforehand, and do 1-2 warmups with closegrip bench (60% 1RM)

Switch it up. I like to get a pump prior to doing heavy compound movements. Then the next week I go heavy first and do isolation stuff to finish up. Shocks my muscles when I switch things around. I recommend that you always warm up the muscle prior to going heavy though.

Don't switch it up weekly...

Give your routine 4-6 weeks to work on your body. If you don't like it, or it's becoming stale, then it may be time to change things up.

I always switch.. I never do the same workout in the same order. Just my way of training, when I do things differently seems to hit me better. I know that some people stick with same program to assess it's effectiveness, but, when I did that in the past, I get less and less sore post workout as the weeks wore on. If I switch things up, seems to hit my muscle better. Depends on the person I guess.

was actualy thinking about doing them after french presses. I figured if my triceps were pre-exausted, I'd work more tricep on closegrips and less chest

Pre-exhaust is always good. I'm only speaking from my experience and I've seen more growth when I pre-exhaust with an isolation movement first.

I do a couple light tri extensions and the pound close grips going between 4 and 6 reps and heavy weight. I'm gonna start doing the 5x5 for close grips as i feel it will improve my bench a great deal.

cheers

If was going to pre-exhaust, I would pre-exhaust with close-grip first, then go to french-press to save my elbows.

But that's just me......:D
