Transformers

Possibly one of the greatest cartoons ever. I know you saw the movie? I loved it. My old roommate owned that and GI Joe the movie. We used to watch em all the time.

have the movie on dvd, has spike saying "shit" in it actually. i still have a lot of the toys too
 
i got the movie on tape..yeah i remember when SPike says shit

it was pretty bad ass when at teh beginning Prime flies down to the Autobot base and takes out like 20 decepticons by himeself..

too bad he died..and it was weird seeing some of my other favorites die in teh background into that lava pit thing..

and people who would diss thsi movie, i would always show the character voice list..some impressive people were on it..orson wells...leonard nimoy..the micromachine guy, robert stack..
 
When I was a kid I loved seeing "Transformers" the movie,
so much so that I rented it a few years ago, to kinda rekindle
that childhood moment, but it just didn't have the magic that
I remembered. Sometimes, it's better to cling to the memories
rather than experiencing the moment again thru an adult's
cynical eyes. But yah, Transformers kicked ass.
 
he-man was the shit when i was a kid. i also watched voltron.
 
That movie rocked.

I rented it a few months ago when my nephew was over and still liked it.

I had Optimus Prime. I also had the race car guy and the Volkswagen guy. For Decepticons, I had the F-15 guy plus the main bad guy that turned into a gun.

Man I wish I could remember their names!

i liked the guys that were teams... and formed the big giant transformer when you connected all 5 together...

who was the decepticon that always wanted to kill the leader? was his name scream or something? he was the red jet... i remember the leader dude turned into a gun.... then they had the guy who's tapes turned into taradactils or wolves or things like that... sound wave i think was his name... or was that the decepticon i mentioned before?

opimus prime sucked!!! big pussy... mack truck bitch...

bumble bee was tiny, little beetle car.

we had heman, joe, superfriends, scooby, captain caveman... now they have shit!!!
 
I think I've honestly seen that movie more times in my life than any other movie.

I can quote nearly the entire thing. Still have the same video copy I recorded when I was in 6th grade.

And Magilicuti.... When Unicron is attacking Moon Base 2, after destroying Moon Base 1 with Jazz and Cliffjumper on it, when they attempt to blow up Unicron by self destructing the Moon Base, and Spike says "What are we gonna do now?!" They actually still have the "Shit!" in front of it?

Awesome. No video copy released has that curse in it. Just the "Damnit" Ultra Magnus says on the Planet of Junk when he's trying to open the Matrix.

I just remember him saying it when I saw the movie in theatres. It had a PG rating in theatres, but a G rating on video.

That rocks.

Madbomber... Starscream was the Decepticon that wanted to overthrow Megatron. The guy with the tapes was Soundwave... his tapes were Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, and Ratbat.
 
all 5 Constructicons could come together to form a voltron-like super-robot and take over the planet. it's unfortunate they were decepticons and destined for defeat by the autobots.

for real who dares to bring up go-bots in this thread? go-bots are like the Tito Jackson of the Jackson 5.
 
Supersizeme... Devastator was the name when they were all combined. Kicked ass on the cartoon... great feud with the Dinobots... but the toys were kinda hard to play with.

And Go-Bots did suck. The only one I had was "Turbo" and he only served the purpose of being destroyed by the REAL Transformers.
 
hehe Volkswagon guy was Bumblebee.

I loved that show man. My favorites were the Dynobots. They came in the later episodes but they still rocked. They were like big stupid juice uped Robots :p


My favorite Transformer of all time was SkyScreamer. I think its because I was amazed by airplanes when I was a kid...
 
you guys notice how a canadian brought up the gobots...

that just goes to show you the country of canada is subpar... they should stick with making snow forts... boring bastards :)

Rodimus Prime, he was Hot Rod before that. Bright colors like red and orange.

and funny shit about snow forts and shit.

I still have my optimus prime actually. And what's up with the movie? I'm talking about the cartoon itself. The movie was great but the cartoon was good as well.
 
Rodimus Prime was a penis. First off... Hot Rod got Optimus killed when he tried to jump Megatron, and Megatron used him as a shield while he shot Optimus 4 times. Then Hot Rod turns into Rodimus at the end, by using the Matrix to "light our darkest hour", to defeat Galvatron. Freakin' shithead. The toy even sucked.

You notice how everything for Transformers started going downhill after they wiped out 50% of the original Transformers in the movie? They killed so damn many... Wheeljack, Ratchet, Ironhide, Windcharger, Prowl, Brawn, Optimus.... they all got wiped out in the first 20 minutes of the show.

Maybe they just thought the originals were getting boring.

But remember, a few years later they brought Optimus Prime back from the dead... I still remember how excited I was when I saw the promo they'd play after the episode was over in the mornings... "Heroes never die. I, Optimus Prime can never be conquered." Man... I wish I was still entertained with the simple things in life.

And Magilicuti... what the hell are you talking about in the last two lines of that post. Snow forts? What's up with the movie?

The problem with the big guys, is we didn't really getta see 'em on tv. Omega Supreme was in an episode, where that little yellow bastard made out of electricity: KRIMZEEK got into all the autobots and fucked 'em up, remember?

The more he fucked with them and their computers, and the more energy he fed on, the bigger he got.

He went around screaming: "KRIMZEEEEEEEEEEEK!"

I liked the big ones too... but my little kid hands had a hard time with them.
 
I used to be a big fan of transformers and GI JOE.... I had probably around 30 transformers. I think I still have some in my basement.

True. The thing I DIDN'T like about Omega Supreme on the cartoon, was that the rocket part of him would blast off... and wherever it landed... the rest of him was there to land on. You ever notice that?

But I guess that's the same as Optimus Prime. His trailer would disappear when he transformed, and just kinda roll up to him when he transformed back. Even if he was on another planet.

Oh well. They troubled less with realism back then, I suppose.

Optimus Prime was the greatest....Hot Rod (Rodimus Prime) was a joke. I like the fact that they brought OP back to life, just because Rodimus was such a fuckup. :)

Did you guys ever watch Beast Wars? It's still on in re-runs...EXCELLENT show. The CG animation was amazing, and the show actually had some great plots and dialogue.

Oh btw Smalls, nobody who was cool had anything to do with go-bots.

I had all the toys...but did you ever notice on the cartoon that when optimus prime transformed, his tralier part of his semi jsut disappeared?

the toy turned into a mini-base with a gun in it...
 
Old School. We need to hire the Tranformers for some covert operations to take out the terrorists. They were some real kick ass cartoons.

lol at the snow fort thing.....any of u guys remember when they played cartoons during the prime time,i think they had a thudercats special and voltron special a couple of years before that...it was nutz seeing cartoons being played at night

our generation had cool kick ass cartoons,,,no wonder why alot of kids now grow up to be pussies

anyone have that big ass metal Voltron? that was probably the best toy i ever had

they had that yellow one that was driven by that fat guy,,,the green one that was driven by that little kid with the hair broach,,the main guy was black(his machine,not the guy himself),,he made up the midsection and chest,,the blue one,,,and im missing one more

form arms,,,,form legs...

He's a badass. I liked him in Megatron form better... but Leonard Nimoy made a killer voice for him.

Not true! If you get the Canadian version of the video that was released a couple of years ago, it's got Spike saying "Shit!"

However, the tape's in mono, so it's really pretty annoying.

I remember it from the theatre... but all the videos here are rated "G" rather than the "PG" the theatre release had.

When I get my PS2, I'll get the damn DVD... and enjoy the original version.

If you really, really want it, you can order the Canadian video from the video store at Bigbot.com. But I'd wait for the DVD. It's worth it. $15, Dolby 5.1, can't beat it.
 
Omega Supreme was the fuckin shit if you guys remember correctly.

All the decepticons were like OH FUCK!!! its Omega Supreme.

He was cool cause he had a Mysterious past that rarely got talked about.

Optimus Prime is heading out to the Middle East with his guard unit on Wednesday to provide fire protection for airfields under combat.

"On Sunday, we were awarded as the best firefighting unit in the Army National Guard in the entire country," said Prime. "That was a big moment for us."

Prime took his name from the leader of the Autobots Transformers, which were popular toys and a children's cartoon in the 1980s.

He legally changed his name on his 30th birthday and now it's on everything from his driver's licence, to his military ID, to his uniform.

"They razzed me for three months to no end," said Prime. "They really dug into me about it."

"I got a letter from a general at the Pentagon when the name change went through and he says it was great to have the employ of the commander of the Autobots in the National Guard."

Prime says the toy actually filled a void in his life when it came out.

"My dad passed away the year before and I didn't have anybody really around, so I really latched onto him when i was a kid," he said.

I used to have others, such as Omega Supreme, Dirge, Blitzwing, and several others, but they were sold in a garage sale in 1991. . . what a stupid mistake!!!

There will be a reissue for Soundwave coming out in Japan in September of 2003 at a price of $53.99.

I also have the movie (1986) on DVD. You can buy Seasons I and II on DVD for $54 a piece.

Overall, transformers between 1984 and 1988 was solid.

If this thread stays alive, I will be sure to take some pictures and send them to members who are interested.

The Soundwave reissue will probably also make it as a US release. They seem to be following about 6 months behind. Check Toys R Us...Silverstreak/Bluestreak and Jazz are the latest.

Also, Season 2 part 2 is out now.
