Training Every Day

I've bee training hard again for the past few months after taking almost 2 years off. I'm trying to put on some size, but so far haven't put on much weight, I have cut up a lot, which means my lean mass has gone up, but I had hoped to gain more size than I have. I've been training everday without any days rest, is this a bad idea? Should I try to take at least one day rest a week or something?

You have training way too much, even the pros take days off and they are a lot of gear. If you want to see some good results try to rest 1-2 days a week and keep your workouts under 1 hour. I recomend a short and intense workout, I Think you have been over training for a long time.

You HAVE to take AT LEAST one day off, but you'll probably get a lot better results with training less (every other day or three times
a week).You're definately overtraining!

I've only been doing 1 body part a day, and giving each one 1-2 days rest. So far I haven't felt burnt out at all, but I just haven't gained the size I wanted too. My strength has gone up quite a bit though. I just wasn't sure whether the body needed a complete day off in order to recouperate or if just given each body part a few days was enough.

Training one bp per day is ok but if your not on gear I strongly suggest that you try two bp's per day and only train three times a week! Don't train any bp more than once a week unless you really feel you can and if that is the case then you might want to look at the fact that you might not be training with enough intensity because as the saying goes you can train long and you can train hard but you can't train long and hard! If you have been training this way for a long time and not getting results I suggest you try and cut down on the amount of exercises per bp and/or the amount of sets in those exercises and up the weight so you can't rep any more than 4 - 8 times and this must be to TOTAL failure! You have definately been over training, think what an endurance athlete's build looks like, even Lee Haney used to say that the idea was to stimulate the muscle not annihilate it! After an hour of working out Cortisol production increases dramatically and Test production falls off at the same time this is highly undesirable for someone who is trying to add muscle mass! One more thing you should be eating food even when you're not hungry even to the extent that you might add a bit of bf but this is ok especially in the winter months as muscle will feed off this and then you can cut up come the spring!

You need to give your muscles time to grow! Rest days are ESSENTUAL!
