Come on guys, this is the usual discussion between what's best of HIT alá Mike Mentzer and large amount of sets/reps alá Arnold's routine.

Hypertrofi can be achieved through overloading the musclefibers. Obviously there are many ways of doing this, one is not necesserily better then the other.

Was Dorian wrong when he only did 1-2 work sets pr. excercise? Was Arnold wrong when he did over 20 sets for an arm workout?

Try both routines and find out what fits you!

Yes, your legs will respond better to higher reps, 15-18 reps works very well. I have very good legs compared to everyone else in my gym, and no one can seem to figure out why those low rep sets don't make your legs grow as fast. They will make you stronger for sure, but for growth, try doing around 15-18 reps. It will make a man out of ya.

I have grown extremely well in the past few years using Dorian's style of workout. Short and sweet. Its all about intensitiy. Blast the muscle with as much intensity as possible and then get out of the gym where the actual growth occurs.
 
yelp, I've converted to short, intense workouts and love it. You get a better workout for your muscles, you add a cardio-like affect into your routine, have more time to do other things, plus you don't get burned out on lifting as when you do for long routines in the gym.
 
I always did low reps 8-10...my legs never responded..she says 18-25 reps with at least 20 sets..I could swear my legs grew a half inch in one day.....how did I hook this up..well she works out at my gym and I asked her to train me...also claude goulex works out at me gym..going to get him to help me with posing...is she pretty...look her up on the net..or open muscle and fitness this month...who cares...yea she is pretty..married and a baby...very sweet person...hamstrings , equally intense....back friday
 
Pros can do so many sets cause they on shit load of juice!! Muscles repair so much faster for them so they can do shit load of sets and then come back 3 days later and hit legs again. If u only taking little bit of juice or notthing at all 20 sets would be too much for u simple is that. Yes u will feel sore as hell but u still be over training!!
 
IF iM HITTING QUADS ONCE A WEEK AND HAMS OMNCE A WEEK...i WOULDNT CALL IT OVER TRAINING....i HAVENT ASKED HER WHAT SHE TAKES......WE TALK ABOUT WHAT i TAKE..AND NOW ITS ONLY 50MG SUSP/DAY 20MG OXANDRIN PER DAY, AND TREN WITH DMSO..VERY LOW DOSES FOR ME..ALSO TAKING CLEN...PREPARING FOR SOME SHOWS COMING UP
