The Transformation continues !

Tuesday, March 8

I'm a day late updating. I came into work Monday morning to find out that my wonderful PRIVATE office is now being shared for the next 3 months with a very nice but very young, by the book, nurse. So...it's cramping my style! I cannot be seen with anything related to steroids on my screen or she will be telling on me.

I was so tired last night that I went to bed about 9:45 and didn't have the energy to get my log updated.

Here's what my day looked like:

5:15 am
45 mins of cardio - the usual elliptical HR about 135.

My workout later that evening was a little bit of a gong show. The gym was packed and of course, anything I wanted to use was busy. So I improvised a little bit but got the core exercises in.

Hang cleans
3 sets of 10 - bar only

Leg Press
90 - 10
90 - 10
140 - 10
140 - 10

SLDL
90 - 10
90 - 10
140 - 10
140 - 10

Seated leg curls
3 sets of 10 at 80 lbs
supersetted with single leg
3 sets of 10 at 30 lbs

Cardio was 10 mins warm up and 15 mins post workout..both walking on the treadmill. HR only 130. I was bagged.

The clen headaches are getting better. I just had a touch of one in the morning and that was it. What I did notice last night is a different feel in my muscles, which I'm sure is from the clen. After the first set on the leg press, I was sure I'd ripped every muscle fibre in my quads. Not really painful but just that feeling of "oh that's not gonna be good". I'm a little sore today but now my butt and quads match my still painful calves! Might as well go for the whole crippled look right?!? ;) My strength is varying more too but the diet and extra cardio are impacting that, as is less sleep during the week. All to be expected.

Diet was on track yesterday....1700 calories right on the nose. Food commercials are becoming more annoying and it's hard to work on a unit where they cook for the kids and I get to smell all the great food. But....then I remember 5 1/2 more weeks and it doesn't seem as bad. :)

On a diet note....I'm always interested in what people's diets look like so I'll post my newly revised meal plan. It's basic and boring! 5 meals, 1700 calories.

1/4 cup steel cut oatmeal
8 egg whites
1 tbsp flax seed (I grind it)
100 g mushrooms

200 g romaine lettuce
60 g cucumbers
60 g peppers
1 tin tuna
I used some of the tuna water and lemon &herb spices..makes a decent salad.

6 oz chicken/ tilapia
200 g veggies (the Costco broccoli, carrot, cauliflower mix)

6 oz chicken/ tilapia
200g veggies

6 oz chicken/tilapia
200g veggies
6 oz grapefruit

I use hot sauce a fair bit and caramel topping from Walden Farms. I think I'll be making up that emergency sugar free jello tonight just to have it on hand.

I started the contest at about 185 lbs. After my 3 week diet thing I did earlier in the contest, I was up to 189. I got back down to 186 and then since starting this diet on Saturday weighed in this morning at 183.8. It's so small in terms of the contest but in the bigger picture, a huge victory for me. I have had to fight my body for every oz lost and it feels great. The higher fat diets do not seem to work well for me and it's a lesson learned. I've been taking notes! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Wednesday, March 9th

Up and in the gym at 5:15 am for the usual 45 minutes of cardio.

My day has been pretty run of the mill except for one thing and I need some help and feedback on this! Please...anyone reading with any ideas, please share.

As the day has progressed my right leg has become increasingly sore. It's only on the right side. It has become a sore numbness...like pins and needles. It starts right at my lower back, where it connects to my butt and goes right down. Even my toes are tingly. It hurts but it's not a really painful thing..more of a throbbing ache and tingle. Any type of impact though would hurt...so for example, I tried skipping rope tonight at the gym and just the impact of my jump hurt the whole leg. It's the feeling if you jumped on your leg if it was asleep.

I was trying to ignore it, suck it up and all that good stuff and my son came to the gym with me tonight, as moral support. I had decided I wouldn't lift but get in some extra cardio. We did 15 mins of cardio on these Precor crosstrainer machines. We went to jump rope but that didn't last long for me, so I laid on a mat on the floor with my feet up on a big ball and watched him skip for 15 mins. Which..I thought was hilarious to just lay there in the group room looking like I'm working out but he slowly skipped over to the other side of the room!

Anyway....if anyone has any ideas or thoughts, I'm open. My mom told me it sounded like a nerve ie: sciatic nerve. But what do you do for that type of thing? Ride it out?

I have been in a groove and finally seeing some progress and do not want any more obstacles! I'm really trying to keep a positive attitude. Tonight, I'd like to chop off my leg. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

sounds like a pinched nerve to me, could be sciatic or some other one even... if you are able to, a massage therapist can sometimes work it out, other than that i dont think there is much you can do for it... maybe stretching could help?

you rocked those SLDL's the other day, nice work!... though im wondering if that was a contributer to you leg pain...
hopefully things feel improved over a good nights rest...

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

it does sound like some inflammation impinging a bit on the sciatic nerve. If it is triggered by a a bit of inflammation, there is some research that suggests the Clen might actually help.

Brain, Behavior, and Immunity Journal of Nov 2010

In conclusion, the β(2)-adrenoceptor agonist clenbuterol has anti-inflammatory and neurotrophic actions and elicits a neuroprotective effect in the KA model of neurodegeneration.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Thanks for the info everyone! I read the links and it definitely sounds like the sciatic nerve. Interesting article on the clen, RW. I took some ibuprofen this morning and it took the edge off a bit. I'm sure it's from something I did with legs the other night. I can feel the pressure point right in my lower back where it seems to be originating. I tried to get in to my doc but he's booked for almost 2 weeks so we'll see how the day goes and I may hit a walk in clinic later or see if one of the docs here might help me out.

Thanks again everyone. I don't know a lot about this type of thing and have never experienced this before so appreciate the help! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Yep agree with everyone else. That dammed sciatic nerve. If your up for it you might try accupuncture too. It works for me for some things and not for others.
Dam sista so sorry to see this happen. Hopefully it will cease to bother you.
RADAR wanted to PM you but said your box was either full or dissfunctional in some way....just fyi.

Thanks Zed! I was able to connect with Radar too so thanks for the info. :)

I spoke to one of the docs I work with today who said pretty much everything you all said. Sciatic nerve. I've been taking a therapeutic dose of ibuprofen today to help the inflammation and went for a massage after work. It was painful but helped. Now if only the masseuse was some hot, half naked man...it would have been perfect! ;)

Doc told me I should be avoiding exercise to let the thing heal. It's not in my plan really but I decided not to go to the gym tonight and I'm feeling a bit of antsy. I know in my head I need to let it settle but it's going to be tough. I'll see how it's feeling tomorrow and maybe do some upper body stuff in the evening. I'll keep the diet tight and hopefully a day or two off won't be too bad.

So...I stopped and rented the first season of the Walking Dead and am relaxing on the couch. Gotta love Zombies!

Thanks to all of you for the help today!
