God forbid someone demonstrate their worth in the market and be directly compensated for it.
god forbid you wake up and operalte in the REAL world of 2007!

WHEN has the worker EVER set the wage scale of any job?

MANAGEMENT deceides what they are willing to pay for a job....starve someone long enough and he will accept a lower than deserved wage.

the difference between what a worker is really deserves and the pittance management is willing to pay is called "profit"...

They don't... but its easier to blame them than to bother understanding global economics. You can do the former by just watching 30 minutes of CNN per day whereas the latter approach requires reading and independent thought. Thanks to the NEA (the teachers union), we don't make kids do things like reading and independent thought because everyone knows the real issues facing education are how to increase teacher tenure and job guarantees.

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. Both parties play a role in setting the price of labor. The market decides what a job is worth through a process called "price discovery". If management is willing to pay what a worker is willing to work for, then viola! You have a job. Otherwise, another method has to be found (i.e. automation, elimination, shipping the job oversea, etc. etc.).

And based on your definition of "profit", a worker being payed what they really "deserve" would produce a company with zero profit. Considering that is your mindset, the rest of your posts make sense now. Let's just make it illegal for any company to make a profit and workers should thrive!

You are chocked-full of great ideas! You know, this guy named "Chairman Mao" had a similar idea a while back. Maybe you could package your ideas into a program called "The Great Leap Forward"... oh wait... that name has already been taken.

Nope, I'm attacking teachers unions -- which have played a key role in the dumbing-down of American kids.

Teachers are fine, they just need to be measured and managed like every other employee should be -- from the CEO down.

how ironic that u r accusing me of communist ideas, plunket....if we all follow your advice and destroy the middle class creating and promoting union members then all this country will have is the super-rich manufacturing owners/ruling class and the rest of us poor people who will be suffering ant at their mercy.

isn't that what communist china is like today?

yeh, rite, like they are today?

how can you justily the huge salaries, stock options and bonus packages that the recently retired CEO's of home depot and general motors are enjoying, in spite of their dismal job performance?

is this your idea of the market place setting the prices?
