the lets all get together and tell what we know about Bill Phillips thread

Why cant people just accept bodybuilding? They get rid of all the good mags(like muscle media 2000) and then accept the fact that greg kovacs says he gained 20lbs. off of a can of cell tech. Wish bodybuilding would be accepted for what it is, and people wouldnt act like we are evil drug addicts, but it never will, we will always be outcasts, i truly believe this. we cant have a good hardcore mag, or a hardcore gym because it wont last, the average joes pay for mags and gym memberships. Bill realized this, even though he seems like a complete asshole to me, and lies about supps, he understood the money was not in bodybuilding but average people. Yes he betrayed us, and he did it for MONEY-WULF

Bill is a mixed bag. Back when his magazine MM2K was getting started, if I needed to get hold of him at 2:00am on a Saturday night... I could call him in his office at his desk. He'd be working. (What are you doing at 2:00am on a Saturday night?) If people were working on speculative projects on their own dime that he was benefiting from - he offered to pay them... even if the projects didn't pan out. (That is damn generous in this business.) And Bill isn't stupid - given an opportunity to make hundreds of millions of dollars... he took it. (What lies would you tell for that kind of money?)

Some people worship Bill and would eat monkey shit out of his hand. Some people hate him.

I don't have any feelings about him one way or the other - but he never tried to cheat me. He never lied to me. He was always willing to walk the extra mile for the people I worked with. His work ethic is superb.

Bill is no doubt an astute business and he deserves respect for that. Selling out though seems to go against the bodybuilding value system though. MM2k was a great mag, i still borrow them from the gym to read, i saw a recent issue though and its full of such shit that if i used it wipe my ass with it would be dirtier than before.
If anyone, and i mean anyone, said to me face to face "Started using HMB, feels like deca" i would punch them out. I hate with a passion supplement companies who sell shit and claim it gives people the world.

Ok ill stop ranting there.

MM2K.........That was a great mag. Dug them out acouple months ago and reread them. Had forgotten how good of a mag it really was. What was the line in his editoral in the first issue Quote"MM2K will also discuss and review the current state of the industry and offer an open forun to discuss ways of mending our industry's problems".
Quote"Unfortunately, the body building industry is polluted with misinformantion and lies".
Surely Bill remebered writing this when he had hand in developing EAS and he changed his mag.

Yes,he decided to become the epitome of the statement. That is why he is so disliked,he became exactly what he preached against for so many years in order to strike it rich.

When you reread MM2k you realise all that mag was, was a massive advert for EAS products, makes me fucking sick really. Phillips is no more than the poor mans Joe Weider, a fucking crook.

Back in early 1999, when I did my first cycle(Sus only), my source gave me his copy of Phillips' World Anabolic Review(1991). Although it was severely outdated, I was fascinated by its contents. I read the entire book in a matter of days and re-read it several more times in the following months.

A little while later, sometime in 2000 I think, the whole Bill Phillips craze started happening. I personally think he's a sell out. For the past 3 years, I get asked by coworkers of mine CONSTANTLY(when they see the meals I bring to work with me) "Are you on Body for Life?" I promply reply "No, WTF is Body for Life?" I let them explain to me about this book they read. What's ironic, is that a significant amount of the people that have "educated" me on Body for Life are disgusting fat bodies(and his book has done nothing to change that). Bill Phillips is no different than the Cybergenics scam of the early 1990's... a flash in the pan.

The guy did what he had to to make money. Sitting in an office at 2am on a saturday night is no life and not worth it if you make a few hundred off of cheesey supplements to the small amount of hard working determined bodybuilders. In order for his time and investment to pay off he had to open his market to everyone else.
In a day when steroids are seen as a type of anti-christ, trying to appeal to his original crowd might alientate the mass amounts of people he is trying to build his business on. BFL is a good concept but no book is going to change someones life. It works for some as a good motivational tool though. If you ask me I think BFL is a simple Idea and I kick myself for not comming up with it myself.
