The FAT Chronicles

p0ink said:

it pisses me off because this seems to be the growing trend in america...not to take responsibility for your own actions but to blame it on others or society and play the role of the victim...things are 'ok' as long as you 'feel good' about yourself. it is such horse shit. and this apathetic lazy nature is not only being embraced by these people it is being encouraged.

no I understand why you're upset. but getting upset isn't going to change anything, if anything it's gonna stress YOU out. you do sound generally concerned by this epidemic.

So why don't you offer to help?

im not really stressing over it, this is just one of those things that bother me. in my area there is talk on the radio about people trying to get together and sue fast food companies for making them fat and that is just so god damn ridiculous. i know i cant change them, but if i can change peoples attitude of 'oh poor them' to 'if they are lazy, what do they expect?' is all i want.

I tried giving these people helpful advice and even tried to sympathize with them because i know how hard it can be not liking your current bodyweight (i worked my ass off from a skinny 140 to 230lbs in less than 4 years through god damn HARD work) and i even tried to level with them, but when you try to be honest with people, they dont want to hear it. they want to continue being miserable and feeling sorry for themselves and expecting other people to do the same. these are the people running crusades against the supplement industry ('fat burners' especially) and want more government regulation. fuck that. i worked in a health food store for 2 years and i cant tell you the number of fat people buying shit like xenadrine and saying shit like, "i dont have to work out while i take this stuff do i?" and when you say yes, they get a big frown upon their face and put it back, or buy it and come back a month later bitching and moaning that we 'ripped them off.'

well I guess all you can do is continue to try and make a difference. As you well know, there are too many bitchers and not enough doers. Is "doers" even a word?

nature boy,

there are people so fat on this board, that instead of losing weight, they opted to have a colostomy bag so they wouldnt have to worry about not fitting in public bathrooms. And people say starvation is a horrible thing, what about gluttony. you have any idea how many somalians could live off of one of these people?

well that certainly is disturbing. and disgusting. This society has gotten bloated and lazy. food is too cheap here I suspect. I don't know how to fix this problem.

i agree with nordstrom.

also the trend in america is to point, laugh, scoff, taunt and humiliate fat people. why's that? does it make skinny folk feel better about themselves? is it that people's self esteem is so in the toilet that they have to put down other people to make themselves feel better? i blame america's fahsion and beauty industry for setting such a high standard that even skinny women and men are falling short and feeling like crap. instead of trashing people you need to encourage them and support them. that will do way more than throwing their self esteem in the dumpster.

i again, i'm like nord, i have about 30% body fat but i'm workin on it. i do more excercise in a week than most people plus i work at a restaurant where i'm on my feet all night. i have more stamina than people half my size and i don't get laughed at either. i've earned people's respect cause i like myself as a person. yes i want to look like the top bodybuilders but i know to get there i have to keep my head up and have confidence in myself. i've got more women huggin me and flirting with me than most guys i know and they are the "skinny" folk. it bugs them too but when you work at hooters you get connections plus they all love my personality. :)

Sushi, good for you trying to better yourself. it seems like most people give up too easlily when they realize that it takes years to reach that goal. our society is very much into quick results. look at how popular phen-phen was -- and people know it could kill.

i took phen fen via an old sports physician i went to when i was like 20 or 21. i lost a ton of weight but when i went off of it it came back. you can't rely on drugs to lose weight that creates dependency which is bad. i think eca is fine as long as the diet and excercise are on track. i see the girls at work taking it and they only either eat 1 or 2 times a day then feel sick at night or they eat a little salad them eat a big piece of chocolate moose cake. none of them need to lose weight, with the exception of a few, but that's beside the point. i'm afraid that's what most american's do too. they eat 1 or 2 times a day and take diet drugs or eca then get sick, die or give up cuz their metabolism shuts down and they don't see results.

sushi, this is not about making fun of someone or being a cock, it is about making them realize that if they are unhappy with how they are that they are the only one that can do something about it. congrats on the good work ethic

thanks, and i see your point. but why post what they put up? it only seems like they are a tool of amusement. i might go register and shed some light on things, hey, i got first hand experience.
