Teen arrested on child porn charges after posting photos of his ex

Note to the kids: I know you are not gonna stop sending each other naked photos of yourselves, but when your hot girlfriend becomes your ex, do not post those photos on MySpace with the caption "Yo tell me this bitch desurves this!!!!!!! This is HLK yall! Yo, U see how big her hole is! Its from me! TF gets my leftover's to bad she fucked." That's what Alex Phillips did to his 16-year-old ex, and now the 17-year-old boy is facing charges of sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography. Obviously he's a twat and deserving of the defamation charge that he's also getting. But is this really a child porn case?

Phillips isn't even two years older than his ex; they're both in high school. She took the photos herself, apparently under no duress, and e-mailed them to him. As awful as his behavior is (a report says that when cops warned him about possible jail time, he replied "fuck that, I am keeping them up"), it's an interaction between two minors.

After all, this case provides plenty of evidence that Phillips and his girlfriend had sex, which in their state of Wisconsin is illegal under the age of 18. So should he be strung up on statutory rape charges too? Do we just use laws in any case they technically apply regardless of the point, which is to protect children from sexual exploitation by adults?

Or are the laws even reasonable in an age when teenagers are sexually active and have access to cheap communication? Do we need new anti-defamation laws for spreading humiliating photos of anyone, regardless of age? Or is it only minors who will get protection when an ex spreads their dirty naked pics?

THOUGHTS?

What's the problem with what he did? I don't get it.

Oh right. She's not responsible for her actions at all. She didn't think of the potential outcome of when a HS relationship turns sour.

After they broke up he posted her nudie shots on the internet that she took and sent to him while they were dating and refused to take them down.

Personally, I think they're both responsible and the both deserve to face the consequences of their actions.

If he gets charged for child pornography she should as well being that she was the photographer.

I agree. I can understand the defamation suit, but they're both responsible when it comes to those pics.

If I give you something, then I'm trusting you to take care of it. If you give it away, then shame on me to trust you.

That said, I do understand your point...but child porn charges? COME ON! He'll be labelled as a sex offender and it will destroy his life and she gets away scot free? WTF?!

yes he will be labeled that, and it's because that is what he is in this case..

Imagine your daughters pic posted like that, what would you do to the kid?? and then you could go to jail in his stead..

either way it will make these idiot children think twice, if you are going to use adult electronic equipment, you'd better be mature enough to use it within federal law..

with that said, no, i don't think he is a child molester, his parents should be sued for their house and all the income he produces for the next 10 years, how'd that be for ya as a punishment??

Oh the child porn charges are absolutely ridiculous and yes it would ruin his life. I just meant that no matter what the charges end up being that they should be shared equally between them.

But life lessons are ever rarely fair.

I do not consider him a sex offender. That said, I also do not know the technical criteria for a sex offender. If you've got it, then great. I do understand the emotional outbursts ("think of the kids!") when some is labeled as a sex offender.

If my daughter posted a picture like that, I would first start to look inward to understand why my daughter is taking a picture like that and giving it out to everyone. "But Dad!" She'll say. "I love him and he said that he won't do it!"

At this point, I'll be sad that I did a piss poor job of raising a child who is that naive and blame myself.

Will I hate the guy? Sure. Will I kill him or hurt him? Why? All he did was post up a nude picture of my kid. The killing or hurting desire is only triggered when my kid is raped or murdered.

I wouldn't pushing the child to a degree where he had a permanent record.

Fortunately, I have boys. :D

Well, the police told him to take them down and he didn't. So, I think the kid needs to get in a little hot water. Child porn is a very serious charge, too serious for what he did, but something lesser.
