I'm currently having a disagreement with my S O about a rumination that got started here at EF which would you prefer in a relationship, an average connection that you know will terminate in within 6 months due to lack of substance, however, you try to stick it out and hope against all logic that a spark will occur cause the sex is straight up tantric... I mean indescribable, 2 bodies attacking each other, shiva/shakti hindu gods of male female, unrelenting, out of body experience where you actually achieve a limbic connnection due to so much bliss... only problem is there is no connection outside the bedroom.

The other option is that you are seeing someone who you connected with immediately, I mean you even felt it the first time you met, you are so enamored with this person due to their paradoxical effect of not dominating you but pacifying you with their tremendous presence that emanates tranquility and just being in a relationship with this person is so emotionally, spiritually nourishing for your tired soul. Just being around them reminds you of chimes, subtle whispers, and a meditative bliss... they are like down tempo music for your persona... just enough to make you move, but you don't wanna leave home. However the.. and this never happens in reality, if 2 are this connnected then sex is inevitably great, but lets say that in this case sex is average...

Which do you choose transcendental sex with boring relations, or transcendental relations with boring sex.
I hypothesize that more than a few people would choose the first, but she's not having it... she's sticking to her guns that most people she has encountered would choose the latter.

As far as our sex life, well even Emerson couldn't hang with this shit...

I think the connection with a person allows for out-of-this-world sex.....

I have both, but it doesn't fall into you lap and you have to be willing to make sacrifices to have that kind of relationship ...

That being said, if you have to choose, I always told my son "marry your best friend. Marry the person that if they woke up tomorrow with the ability to read minds, you wouldn't care."

Fabulous sex is great but IMHO you can't have fabulous sex without a deep, heart felt emotional connection anyway so be with the person whose company you enjoy, who makes you feel like the colors are brighter and life is more joyful.
