I'm still working on the weight gaining and was told that I should start taking supplements, I mention this to my mom and she flips out saying if I buy any, she'll trash them then trash all my weight lifting equipment (WTF). She claims its a bunch of bullshit and only idiots and losers take supplements to gain weight, what a bunch of shit she says. Anyone recommend some hard evidence that it is good to take certain supplements to gain weight?
 
There isn't much you can do but try and reason with her, I'm assuming you're a minor living at home. Find studies on creatine and show them to her. Protein powders can be a cheap and efficient source of protein, my milk proein isolate is 5.99lb and gram for gram is much cheaper than milk. Oh well, if she's willing to foot the bill for "real food" in the form of Salmon steaks, lean beef and chicken then take advantage....
 
Rule number one. Your parents are ingnorant and closed-minded. If you don't like that, then get a real job and move out. You can't change your parents. The best you can do is plan for the longer term. When you're free of them and able to afford your own supplements and lean cuts of meat, then you will understand where they're coming from. Oh BTW, you'l also have to do your own cooking, dishes, laundry etc...... unless you find a girlfriend/wife to help ya out.
