These 400+ grams of protein a day are killing me.
I know i can't be the only one so what do you guys use/ recommend?
...yes I'm eating an ass load of green veg
Broccoli, brussel sprouts, green beans, spinach, asparagus, raw baby spinach.
4000+ cals a day it's just not enough.
Tyia

I just down the water, veggies and high fiber kinda carbs like beans. I know what u mean though I can be rough at times...

I eat something like 50g of fiber per day and still have issues sometimes.

I think the key is to eat more insoluble fiber vs. soluble fiber. Some of the fiber type cereals I've seen have high amounts of insoluble fiber.

Grains like brown rice and oats have tons of Fibre! Eat some a couple hours before your workout and you'll be ready to kill it!

Species Nutrition Fiberlyze....3x as much as fiber as Metamucil and tastes better.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Has anyone tried psyllium husk?
I've been researching different stuff and came across it.
The conventional (supermarket shelf) stuff doesn't seem to do much for me accept for bloat and gas.

Haven't tried it but I have heard it can give you bad indigestion.

I supplement with bulk psyllium fiber. I buy it in 5lb bags from bulkfoods.com and I add it to my whey protein shakes every time. You have to "work up" to the proper dose as if you overdo it, it'll cramp you up at first. If you go this route, start out low and work up to it.

I think im gonna try that ...i just hope i don't get the indigestion from it.
It seems like ....if something can give you indigestion, it will give it to me.

Psyllium is the ingredient in metamucil. The stuff works wonders. Its not like other fibers because it is "bulk forming". This means it absorbs a ton of water, so your poops will be huge and nice and soft and your body can move them through your intestine much easier because of the size. I take it at night and have a giant poop every morning. It takes me like 15 seconds to poop instead of sitting there reading half the dictionary waiting for something to happen.

Ok i lol'd a lil

I love some of the fiber one products... don't go crazy with it.... but even the loaf of wheat breat and cottage cheese have fairly good nutrition facts and loaded with fiber without having to consume to many extra calories.

all natural peanut butter spread on a piece of whole wheat fiber one toast is a nice little fiber bomb with positive nutrient qualities.

I lately had a hernia operation and often find myself constipated. My doctor recommended taking a powdered fiber supplement. Are there any long-term edge consequences from taking this kind of merchandise? If so, how long can I extend to take it safely?

Constipation is a common problem. Doctors often suggest fiber supplements, furthermore called bulk laxatives.

There's no evidence that long-term use of fiber supplements is hurtful. Make certain you take them with plenty of water, though. else, they can really make constipation worse. Other side consequences may include bloating, gas and cramping. supplementing supplemental fiber to your diet gradually can generally decrease these side effects.

Constipation is a widespread problem. Doctors often suggest fiber supplements, also called bulk laxatives, for persons with chronic constipation.

A tablespoon.
Just got back from a business trip. 4 days no psyllium. Man I missed it!

It's odd, I eat like 40-50g fiber per day from natural food, plus a couple tabs of fiber one and still, I'm sometimes plugged up for like 4 days. I'm gonna buy some psyllium see if it works... I'll step on the scale after a massive one and have dropped a pound :) That's not cool though. In the mean time I'm bloated as hell....

Think of fiber like a sponge. It's great if there's plenty of water around but if you're not taking enough water in you're gonna be trying to pass a dry sponge... On top of whatever constipation from protein you already had.

Make sure to take in 16 oz water every time you take a fiber pill. Drink water throughout the day. Drink more when you take in protein, especially protein powders. It is hard to drink too much water. If you're worried about overdoing it, switch to Smartwater or something else electrolyte enhanced.

Great advice and I appreciate it. I chug water like no other, people at work probably think I have a bladder issue cuz I'm hitting it up every 2 hours. I've been taking around a 1.5 teaspoons of psyllium lately and it's helped.

I follow an IF diet, and I'm wondering if that is messing with it. I'll take 1.5 teaspoons of psyllium with my 10g bcaa prior to my 5:30am workout...then not eat anything until 1:00pm or so.

I think I should start taking the psyllium at night instead, prior to my 1,200 cal meal.

Anyone have any thoughts on that?
