Sumo DeadLifts

Who does sumo deadlifts? I can't do the standard deadlifts with the grip outside of your leg stance, am I losing any benefits from just doing the sumo style deadlifts, or is it the same thing? Thanks

I sumo

I sumo now because of sometimes ailing back. I am also tall and sumo is more comfortable. I've done both over the years and don't think your losing that much, maybe just a bit lost doing sumos but not much.

I think sumos work better for taller people. Also like the other guys said less stress on your lower back provided you're using proper form.

Yep, knees outside. The standard form seems to place tto much stress on my lower back. They also feel somewhat akward. Looks like I will stay with the sumos.

what is the proper form for doing sumo deads? legs wider than a squat stance, and where are the hands placed on the bar? shoulder width?

Hands are plaaced with a relatively close grip inside the knees. The stance is a wide stance.

Stance is wide almost out to the weights. my toes actualy touch the plates sometimes. grip should be close it all depends on how you feel holding the weight
