it amazes me still to this day how i keep reading all of this dont eat sugar, dont drink soda stuff. the higher the gi the better the carb if you do it right.

in lamans terms here is how it works. you just woke up after an 8 hour fast and your muscles are starving. so you eat a bag of jelly beans this raised your insulin which then grabs all of your free nutrients not just sugar and rockets them where they are needed (your muscles) so if you also cunsume 80 grams of whey (when your muscles are in need either after a fast or post w/o) that sugar and protein will be put into your muscles at a much faster rate and more will be used than if you left out that high gi carb. why? because of insulin. elivated insulin levels create a highly anabolic enviornment. the more insulin you secrete the more nutrients you move. as long as your muscles are in need during this time period the nutrients will go to them

now what you dont want is to waste it and get fat. here is how you get fat.
you have plenty of food in you your muscles are good and full but you drink a pepsi creating that same insulin spike which still rockets the same nutrients but your muscles are already full. so where does it go? fat storage.
 
Best news ive heard all day. Starting my bulk in a couple of weeks, and now i know i can get away with sugar at the right times :D
 
Sorry bro but I think you have the wrong idea about soda. All sugar is not created equal. The sugar in soda is High Fructose Corn Syrup (except pepsi throwback, which is natural sugar). HFCS does not spike insulin and does not restore glycogen. the sugar cane is so short that the body cannot use it for energy either, so (to my understanding) it releases fat triglycerides into the blood which more often than not get stored as fat. I am not an expert with HFCS but it has a horrible reputation and bodybuilders need to stay away from it like the plague.
 
well i used to drink mountain dew, root beer, and orange soda. they all worked well. now i use slin and still drink the same sodas and other stuff of course and it works fine for me. i get the same results from gatorade, glucose tabs, honey, sugar packets, and a variety of candy also.

You probably got good results because you ate like a monster and ate lots of other high gi stuff like glucose. but the majority of soda and some gatorade flavors use high fructose corn syrup and it is the devil for bbers because of the excess fructose in it. fructose can only be stored in the liver or in fat cells, and the liver contains far less glycogen than the rest of the body. it also tends to release a lot of fat tryglycerides into the blood stream which is bad. i know it also has a lot of other health risks too. the best sugar to drink for insulin is glucose aka dextrose.
 
Some please remind me to come back and slam the hell out of this crap please. Its way to early in the morning for me right now but it needs some ones attention for sure. The whole subject of carb sources and insulin needs a once over and right now joe me thinks you are wrong on a few points.

hey needto i have an experiment for you. get a home glucose monitoring kit. and use it 2 times post w/o. the first time check your level then get the best spike you can get with whatever sugar you want. wait 1/2 hour check again then wait an hour and check again with no other food inbetween. then do the same test with mountain dew. then explain your results and what caused your levels to shoot up and rapidly decrease.

dont take this as sarcasm because its not. if there is something i am missing i want to understand it. and if anyone is going to shed light on it its probably you. thats why i took your program on tsc. but all these google search explinations dont make sence to me. they all contradict the results of the test i mentioned above.
 
This sounds a bit extreme. There is absolutely no reason to even investigate this type of food strategy. If they one day discovered that smoking cigarettes helped build muscle, I still wouldn't smoke because it's stupid. There are smart ways to do things and there are stupid ways.

well i guess i'll be stupid and keep growing lol. i will still keep going to my stupid doctor who keeps giving me my good health reports from my blood work from those stupid labs.

if consuming a high gi carb post w/o for an insulin spike to promote muscle growth is stupid. i would hate to think what it is to take steroids, gh, slin, clen and the countless other drugs that 90% of us ef members along with the other pro and amature bb'ers and pl'ers everywhere are taking.

we are talking about a can of soda or a handful of jelly beans with 4 out of 70 meals per wk. thats 66 meals packed with water, whole grains, lean organic meats, organic veggies, nuts, milk ect. and 4 with the dreaded candy.

lets not compare 3 or 4 cans of soda per wk to being a smoker.

im a bb'er not a health nut.

i could go on all day but i think i'll stop here.
