substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due to

txbondsman

New member
drugs and/or alcohol.

As a person who has had more than my share of trouble, legal and personal, I want to share my experience, strengh and hope to anyone in need. We have others who will make themselves known, they too have much to offer. As in the traditions of AA/NA, only they will post their own names as they see fit. Whether it's a one time issue or you have been experiencing the agony for a longer time, we here would like you to know that there is a different way to live, a happy way to live, free from the chains of drugs/ alcohol. If you are experiencing problems, or you know someone, refer them to our group, New Beginings, it's an "open" group, all you need to do is look for "groups" at the left on your profile, click on "groups", you'll find us there.

There IS hope after dope!

Tx

there are alot, but non-smoking groups are more popular than the smoking groups now, nobody likes to sit around in a freakin cloud, the smokers would rather just step outside....

since you can't get arrested for possessing tobacco and they have yet to put a DWC/DWD law into effect, that's diping or chewing, it's not much of a concern for anyone. :-)

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

This is a great idea and for those who seem to think its funny may god bless you and I hope you or your loved ones never struggle with addiction

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

i have used, prescription pills, heroin, and cocaine on and off for 3 years, I found that lifting weights is the only thing that comes close to giving me that feeling of escape I need so much. I've experimented with a lot of drugs, and the rush I get while lifting makes me feel so good. I also feel good about myself I'm really finding Im just as addicted to this as I am to anything else.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

I hope you don't mind me asking, but why would the courts give you time and not send you away right then?

I feel for you bro. Good people get sidetracked and have hard times too. Remember that although most of the people on this don't really know you, we are still your friends and care about you.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

Also, txsbondman is a great person to counsel with if you are having problems or doubts. He is real. And he really cares. He would never tell you wrong or betray your privacy.

So I don't want to see any smartasses trying to give him grief or wisecracks for his efforts here.

Thing is i might not do any time.I have a motion hearing on dec 13,and a trial set for Jan 26.
The 60 days could be more or less,or possible home detition.
But my lawyer expects 60 days to be a ballpark offer from the D.A:)

This is great to have a community like this.......

no one is Ever Alone

Simply asking for help can literally save a life worth saving

Its good to see you giving him the backing on this bro. Tx is offering this to help people. Addiction is nothing to joke about or look down on. I am a addict myself. I recovering addict but still a addict for the rest of my life.

Its a disease and most people don't understand this. Its like having aids. Your stuck with it the rest of your life. People make it hard to admit it. No one wants to admit they are flawed and need help. I admit it and I get help everyday with it.

haha, no shit. Major crisis when the coffee runs out at an aa meeting. The coffee monitor position is a big pair of shoes to fill.

that was your first K message to me, just "friend of Bill". :-)

Yes, AA was my first place I KNEW I wasn't going to drink or drug if I was there. The only 2 times that I was safe from myself were (1) when I was on my knees praying, and (2) at a meeting. That was it. So for the first 6 months or so, when the monster was on my back, I RAN, not walk, to the nearest meeting or hit my knees. Without a doubt, I'm alive now for that reason....

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

I am a recovering drug addict. I have 17 months clean.

good for you, keep us informed and please share you experiences, especially if you see a thread started by someone who is in trouble....

not uncommon at all, we just have an addictive personality. I used to tell the groups I had at the rehab I volunteered in, "Hell, I get addicted to everything, good OR bad."

Lifting or running, whatever became just as much a compulsion as drugs/alcohol. It's all about self perception...

Rust NEVER sleeps, always be on guard for the triggers that made you go off the last time. The 60 days will keep your attention for awhile, not long, but long enough for you to get through the trouble spot. You'll have to decide if living the way your living now, trainging, feelong good, etc is the way you wamt to stay or is it just till probation gets off your back.
Your a really good dude, pick sobreity, you'll never regret giving up a few parties here and there. trust me...

I agree. As much as I hate to say this, doing my 6 month bid was a blessing. I was way outa control. I had a serious drug addiction that began to ruin every aspect of my life.

yep, it can and often is a blessing, one that isn't visible till your looking from the other side...

I was told by our district judge, "you can kill yourself if you want, but I'm ot going to let you kill your family too.(mentally)" He was/is a good friend of mine. He told me that I needed to find a way to stop drinking, OR he had a place to put me that it was harder to get alcohol. I knew what he meant and he wasn't playing. He'd have done it.

That's when i felt the motivation to get help. I thought so I just didn't go to prison, that was my first thought. I went to a rehab and was pissed everyday for weeks. It wasn't till I had been there for some time that I really realized that my life was better, I wasn't as depressed, etc. That's when i realized that there was alot of things happening for me other than not going to prison. But, I didn't see it until I was on the other side of it all....

It felt so good and I saw others getting better, that I volunteered for over two years at the place....

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

7 years ago to the day I started drinking again after almost 9 years sober

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change
Courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference

I am not like I was before
I thought that nothing would change me
I was not listening anymore
Still you continued to affect me

I was not thinking anymore
Although I said I still was
I'd said "I don't want anymore"
Because of bad experience

But now I feel so different
I feel so different
I feel so different

I have not seen freedom before
And I did not expect to
Don't let me forget now I'm here
Help me to help you to behold you

I started off with many friends
And we spent a long time talking
I thought they meant every word they said
But like everyone else they were stalling

And now they seem so different
They seem so different
They seem so different

I should have hatred for you
But I do not have any
And I have always loved you
Oh you have taught me plenty

The whole time I'd never seen
All you had spread before me
The whole time I'd never seen
All I'd need was inside me

Now I feel so different
I feel so different
I feel so different

I feel so different
I feel so different

good post Walli, if you will, go over to the group and post up some of what you just wrote. We're hoping that when people read what happens if you choose sobriety, they too will take a look at what we have to offer. Your avi will be added and if someone wants to talk, they can see the avis and hopefully choose one to talk to. LOTS of good bros there, if we added the years of sobriety up, it's close to 100 years combined. That's alot of experience, strength, and hope.

YES, and EF helps me too. "Spreading the word to addicts who still suffer", one of the best ways to stay clean/ sober.

Very true.........I am killing the Skoal Mint weekly since my party days ended and was just told last week I am going to need a gum graft. They are going to transplant skin from inside my cheek to my gums to stop future tooth lost. Never in a million years after all I have done did I think my health issue would be with my gums. LOL.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

A lot of temptation at this time of the year.
We had our office Christmas party last night. I would have loved a glass of wine and had plenty of encouragement. They don't understand and I don't want to explain.
This is a good group with good people that get it and are willing to share and support if needed.

I have been, a few PM's but tons of K messages....

OK, show of hands who has recieved a K message from ME inviting you to post up in the New Beginnings substance abuse group. Get them UP!!! Lot's of peeeps I don't see in C&C, those I tried to especially contact....

Guy's, seriously, many of you can help out other brothers and sisters who are struggeling, take a few minutes ed to check the group, if you see something that you feel moves you to post, do so. I still am a firm believer, I saw it TOO many times while working at the rehab I got sober in, that if one person speaks up with a problem, there's 10 who just didn't want to say anything but have the same problem or one similiar. Because we post to just one person in the New Beginnings, I'm convinced that MANY others are monitoring the group, which is cool, as long as they are getting the info and help they need.

The best gift you could ever give somebody is the words and knowledge to help them get or stay sober/clean.

Thanks,
Tx

You are not making sense and you know I do not take the bullshit on my forums spart. So pull it together get your head out of your drunk ass and say something worth looking at or do not post again tonight... You know I love you bro but get your drunk ass to bed.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

Well i definately wouldn't call myself an addict. but i very well could be heading that way if it wasn't for

lifting and omega's program. In college all of my friends drink like crazy! 6 days a week sometimes. And

freshman year i found myself up 20lbs and drinking till i blacked out every night at least 3 times a week. I

recognized it early and since omega ive only drank a couple times. but when i drank, i just kept drinking.

Things like the film beerfest and college make it look like its so cool, and chicks dig the hell out of it

at big colleges such as ohio state. especially since i'm under age at 19. I even quit one time when i was 18

after 12 straight months and suffered from some withdraw. but i'm not here to complain. just to tell that

story. i'll watch out for myself in the future. Working out is a healthy obsession. And EF and good bros

like omega help amplify your progress! best of luck everyone!

Spart, that was pretty unnecessary. You have a lot of issues my friend. You need to put the bottle down and come to your senses, because one day, you wont be let back onto EF.

I like you as a friend and I'll hang out with you anyday, but you're embaressing yourself and EF by saying the shit your are saying.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

I have a very addictive personality. All the bad things or dangerous things in life seem to be what I am drawn to. Twice in my life I have gone in a downward spiral with different drugs. Ecstacy one time and blow another. I would get it under control and then have one drink and WHAM I would lose all sense of reality.
The one thing I have found is when I can work out I live my life clean without even trying. I could go seven months at a clip without a drink. Right now I don't know if I will ever be able to fully work out again due to my back and my shoulder. Both have been destroyed. My drinking has ramped up but everything else is in the past. Tomorrow I am making myself go to the gym to do some cardio and shoulder PT. Hopefully, I get to the point where I can start lifting again. That is the most addictive thing for me. I just want a simple life these days. Go to work, make money, go to the gym, go home. Throw in a good lady and thats all I need. I am ready to leave the crazy life behind.
It really is crazy. These days I can see the difference in my decision making from the first sip of booze. It probably all comes back to stress. Since I have not been able to work out I have lost my biggest and best stress reliever!

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

Sorry to bump this old thread but I am currently struggling to wrangle in my addiction to prescription painkillers and quite frankly there is no one in my life that knows and I feel that going to anyone would be a detriment and provide no real positive influence. As you may be able to tell I have been a member of this board for a very long time and used to live the life of health and lifting and not deal with these demons. I want that life back. Its been about a year now of complete daily consumption of these things and they are wrecking me financially, emotionallly, and physically. Every day I say its the last day the the next thing I know there I am washing 10 down the next morning with my coffee. Any insight, advice, help would be greatly appreciated and I do know that if it is to be its up to me and I have to want to quit to be able to quit. Hopefully just venting this to someone will provide some sort of help....

More than likely that you can't "wrangle in" the addiction by yourself. The fact that you've acknowledged you have a problem is a huge step. Don't let shame or pride stop you from asking for help. It's there and you are not alone jbl60!
I promise you that learning more and talking about it will not be a detriment if you want your life back.
I hope you join the New Beginnings group. There are a lot of good people there that have been where you are and can help.
Here's just one quick link that may help.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

1:
FIND a methedone clinic

2:
Sign in for "Detox"
They usually offer 1-3 month tapers.

3:
DO any of them ( preferably the 2 monther)

4:
From day 1 it will save you $$$, and also totally get rid of most of the horrid crash. ( the treatment ranges from $333 -500 total, in some places as low as 179$)

5:
about middway in the treatment when blood values start to get lower in your quest to health start working out. It will help big time for when you go to Zero.

6:
when you stop you will only feel iffy for about 2 days.

7: Refuse long term Suboxone or Methadone treatment , they might try to snare you....ONLY do the detox.

8: Never go back again once you get clean.........you wont want too anyway.

The first day tell doc you want to start on the high end.
if you have been using alot insist the ramp start high and taper down.

Re: substance abuse group, New Beginings, for anyone who is experiencing problems due

. Suboxone os subutex are the best opiate detox options, if you go to the right place they will have you off in a week or two and you will experience little to no discomfort.

3 years clean and sober on the 15th.

in my yrs here i've witnessed behaviour, and myself have participated in behaviour, invovling
AAS that def could be considered abusive.
