Get something with good power but not overboard! For street use something with good torque is a better choice than a high revving bike.
Best story I got is going a 180 with a t shirt and shorts on.. was a deserted back road.

hahaha good advice dick, no I thinking about a ninja 300, honda.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using EliteFitness

If you're new to street bikes and want something sporty, the Ninja 300 is the best choice out of that and the CBR250. The CBR is gutless. The 300 isn't blazing fast, but it's plenty peppy for a beginner. It'll do 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds. The Honda will do about 7.5, and anything bigger like a 650 will be in the low 4 second range. The supersport 600 will do 0-60 in the mid low 3's, the 1000's in the high 2's with disgusting top end power.

Having done bikes a little bit, you need a solid 5000 miles experience riding a normal powered bike before you go with something fast like a supersport. I suppose it depends on if you're a retard or not. I've been a speed machine junky my whole life so I have a knack for driving fast vehicles. I hopped on a supersport my first time ever riding a street bike and it scared the shit out of me. Now that I have ridden quite a bit, I know what to expect.

I have a Ninja 300 and a CBR 600RR. The Ninja is a great bike, especially getting like 80mpg and still being pretty peppy.

If you are downhill going into a turn with a supersport, speed can come on so fast you put yourself in a dangerous situation, even when not trying to gain speed it can speed up on you if you're not paying attention. The 300 is still quick enough to get you in trouble if you are new, but it's exponentially multiplied by a 600 with 3X as much horsepower.

Anyways, learn on a smaller bike, gain a lot of confidence in your abilities to drive it. I suggest you even take it out to a track and drive it hard, get low into the turns and understand the limits of what your machine can do. Not that you want to push the limits on the street, but if you need to maneuver to avoid danger on the road, you need to know how to drive your bike hard, it might save your life.

I've recently just been riding roads with a license since april, but been riding/racing bikes and cars a long time, my whole life basically. I drag raced my dads cars at the drag strip since I was 13. They can't see you wearing a helmet, lol. The street is dangerous. Not constantly, but it will get in your face without warning. Drivers do not see you well. I've experienced that a few times in the short time I've been on the street.

That's probably the best advice I've ever read to a beginner.

Needless to say I agree with him fully. And I stress DONT BE A FUCKIN RETARD AND PUSH THE LIMITS IN THE STREET BEFORE YOU LEARN HOW TO MANEUVER YOU HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF KILLING YOURSELF. I learned the hard way. Dumped a Yamaha r6 doing a wheelie over the George Washington bridge. The ground is unforgiving... It hurt.... Bad.. Like really bad... Just don't do it.. Mmm K sweetums?! Lol
Good luck have fun.

thank you for the advice its really helping out! I've talked to my dad about it and he's not thrilled about me getting one but he's accepting it. My dad had one in the 80's ninja honda and had 2 accidents were both were drunk drivers hitting him, he's fine but after the second time around he gave up on them.

Now I still have alot of research to do on them, I don't want to jump into it, you know? but I have some questions.

Should I buy new or used?
Should I take motorcycle classes? or are they not necessary.
ninja 300 or GS500F?

thanks one again!

I've ridden dirt all my life started riding street 6 years ago. Have owned a 04 750gsxr, a 07 600gsxr, and now own a 2009 zx10. My experience is when I was 18 I got tboned wasn't my fault at all due to me going straight and him taking a left into me. Sucked snapped my left femur metal rod from my hip to my knee and 3 screws. I love to ride I won't not own a bike. All I can say is learn to ride take it slow take your time keep your eyes open and loud pipes save lives....learning your probably going to eat shit at some time or another so wear proper protection and always wear a fucking helmet don't be an idiot mine save my life!

Buy used cause if your anything about getting better you will fall... Take classes the msf course is a good start. And get the 300. I love my ninja

my hubs is nicknamed "uniball" because of his bike

oh, and don't listen to ego's about cc's...buy something smallish and used for a first bike..you're gonna drop it anyway and small is good for learning how to handle twisties

but on another note...take the safety class and shop around the 500-600 range

best advice I ever took was to NOT go with too small/under-powered bike as a first bike because a. you need some speed sometimes to get out of bad situations and b. you'll be bored as fuck with a really small bike in one season

so instead of 300 go with 500? i'm researching on a 2014 Kawasaki ninja 300, bad ass bikes!

The Ninja 300 is plenty of bike. You don't need a 500 (which 500?). If you were well experienced, then I'd recommend a 600 SuperSport but that's not the case.

I have an RR and a 300. I can still have fun on the 300.

Buy a 2013 used with low miles. Should be able to pick one up for $3.7k that hasn't been dropped and is low miles. Brand new will cost you 5800 with tax title and licensing through a dealership.

you can always go the route i went and get a 125cc dirt bike and learn the basics... if u arent experienced at all even a 125 will fuck with you... when you can pin the trottle on that and still have full control, move onto street bikes.. thats what i tell ppl to do.. my first time i was on a gsxr1000... idk how i didnt kill myself... prolly cause the big black guy who owned it told me if i dop it he was gonna shoot me in the ass and make me pay for the bike... thats a true story too smfh

insert "cool fucking story bro" here

Cool story bro.

Lol.

The reason the 300 is nice is that it isn't very torquey so you aren't gonna to inadvertently have the bike pop a wheelie or shoot out from underneath you. But the top end pull had enough to keep even experienced riders satisfied. The reason a 1000 is so dangerous for an inexperienced rider is of you accidentally blip the throttle you're screwed if you have no idea have to control that mistake. Trust me, even on a real pussy bike, a noob can get hurt doing that.

Stretch the bike and grow a dick for fucks sake

Jesus H. Christ are you really gonna listen to the mormon 40y/o virgin on street bikes?

Going 99mph on that shaky, light ass kid bike and hitting the rev limit is real cute you fkn fgt

For a 2013, low could be very low, like less than 1000. Mine has 638 on it. Typically though, anything under 2k miles on a 2013 is "low" miles. You can find bikes that are 5 years old with 1500 miles on them too.

Anything under 2k miles is more than good enough.

Don't worry about people saying you will eventually crash your bike being a beginner. That's not necessarily true. In all the years doing quads, dirt bikes, racing cars and streetbikes, and more recently actually driving in traffic, I have only ever crashed on a 4 wheeler at the dunes, that wasn't even a "crash" I over ended at a dune apex and tossed the quad only going like 5mph.

If you are a cautious rider and have good skills with motor vehicles, you might ride 50 years without wrecking.

I see guys wrecking trying to show off and stupid crap like that, not driving normally.

Again, once you get comfortable with all the basic maneuvering and feel good taking turns at decent speeds, go to a track and learn what the bike can really do. You'll find that, if you're a cautious smart driver, the bike will handle as far as you dare push it. I've scraped my knee caps on the street before not wearing sliders, and the bike won't fall over even banking a turn at that hard of an angle.

Also, buy a quality helmet, gloves and jacket bare minimum. If you didn't spend around $500 for a helmet, it's not good enough. You can get a decent jacket for $300. I'd suggest you buy leather. Mine is a full race jacket with protectors in all the key areas. It costs $600. Gloves were $200, boots were $300.

Sounds like a lot of money, but trust me, sliding on asphalt at 50mph can kill you without gear if not severely tear up your skin to the point you are in the hospital for 6 months getting skin grafts. With gear you will walk away with bruises and maybe a broken bone as long as it's a slide.

Don't let that scare you, I'm just telling you what happens often enough that it's better safe than sorry. I'd rather die than be in a hospital for 6 months and then suffer in pain the rest of my life. Just wear all your safety gear all of the time.

My first bike was a Honda cbr954rr no license and no classes, very stupid and I'm surprised I never wrecked it or killed myself lol I agree start small work your way up... I wish I didn't get rid of it tho :/

5. Get a mani/pedi and spray tan at the women's day spa and a massage from the big Brazillian guy named Marco. You should get a free pass when you buy a 300cc bike

I've been riding since I was 13 (dirt at first; street since I was 18 or 19) ... I've always liked sport bikes for street, even though they're not as comfortable for long rides IMHO. Now I have a 2009 Yamaha R1, which is absolutely the best performer I've ever ridden. I also have a classic 1985 Honda VF1000R, which is arguably the bike that started the whole "Crotch Rocket" culture. But despite the fact that it was a world-class winner in the 80s, it feels like riding a fishing boat now, as compared to the R1. I've never ridden a GSXR or any of the newer Honda sport bikes, so I can't comment on those. I liked the looks of the GSXRs in the 80s and 90s, but they were still air-cooled at that time, and I ride in stop & go traffic too much to worry about the bike overheating at a red light. I don't know, but I'd assume they're all water-cooled now.

who gives a shit what you ride as long as you ride bro....riding a bike is fun as hell and you do it for yourself not for anyone else...and you climb the stairs one step at a time, no one is born riding an 1800 cc bike

I started off on a 650 then went to a 1300 that i have now. Love the damn thing

I started off on a 650 then went to a 1300 that i have now. Love the damn thing

Yes, on a cruiser, that's a different story. The engines are designed completely different, and those road bikes weigh near twice as much, and subsumed much more than twice as much. A 650 is a good size for a cruiser to learn on that isn't boring as crap after all of 2 weeks.

You can't go from 20mph to 90mph in 3 seconds on a 1300 cruiser in one gear, let alone at all.

Not that you were suggesting to start at a 650 sport bike.

Like I said before, the first time I ride a bullet bike it was a super sport that scared me shitless. Speaking from experience, and knowing the average capabilities of a new rider, that will get a lot of people seriously injured.

A Ninja 300 accelerates about as fast as a 300 horsepower car. That's plenty of balls for a beginner.

1) If you qualify for financing, you can get a used one and pay about $100/month.

2) Yes. Honestly, I didn't but I already have plenty of experience with knowing how to ride beforehand. Not that I know everything and am the best rider ever, but I knew more than enough to bypass the learners course. Being new to it, it is very much worth it. Also watch YouTube videos with riding tutorials where people explain countersteering, how to brake properly, etc. They'll teach you all that in your beginner course, but if you understand how it all works and why before you hop on a bike, you'll better understand how a bike works.

It's really not very complicated, but it does behave contrary to how you might expect. For example, you go over about 17mph, and you actually turn the handle bars to the left to turn right. What happens is it causes the bike to lean to the right. A car does the same, except for it has wheels on the other side to counteract lean, so you actually turn left to go left. It's just physics.

Also, if you are going slow and you have your front wheel turned and you stop using your front brakes you are going to drive the bike into the ground, it tips over.

Or, when making a turn, you look to the end of your turn as you take it through. If you look down and forward into a turn, your body naturally won't lean and you'll go straight.

Anyways, it's stuff like that you learn. Once you get the gist of it, you will feel the bike and it will do whatever you want it to through the feel of it and not sui much having to think about it.

I'm just curious, do you ride?

because you can be 250 lbs and a 300 cc bike will still be exciting enough for at least a year as a beginner

ru srs?

lmfao@300cc being fun for more than the first week it takes to learn how to ride.

I was bored after my 600cc bike in the first 2 months and ended up buying a 900rr

I'm not trying to compete with anyone on EF for cool points. Everyone here has a 12" cawk, rides an 1800cc monster, drives a badass truck, has millions in the bank and dates a supermodel. I'm just average in comparison to 99% of people on here.

Nice life

nothing really gets me "butthurt" on EF anymore bro...my real life has turned into shit...I hit rock bottom a few times this year, it doesn't get any worse so trust me my "online ego" or 'online persona" doesn't really matter to me anymore.

I'm not on clomid. I've finished my PCT a while back. I've given up juice for good. I'm just not in a good place right now and it has nothing to do with the juice.

12" cock?

Pfft, please, mine's at least 15" soft and it gains 50% more hard.

Also, my new bike I bought 3 minutes ago is a dodge tomahawk with a 500hp V10 viper engine.

Trucks and SUV's are for bitches.

I have billions in the bank.

I date 20 supermodels and get all the poon.

Amen.
