Steroids Give more than 5%

I keep on hearing this, "steroids only contribute an extra 5%, the rest is diet and training." Of course, I know diet and training have to be there, but I would have to disagree with it only being 5%. I've see many guys who did not know how to train, yet they "blew up." So it has to be doing more than 5%. I'd just add that I have yet to do a cycle, I'm just observing what I have seen in real life and comparing it to what I have seen on this board. I could go in further detail, butthis is pretty much it. I think steroids give more than 5%.

Another thing is the genetic potential that is always thrown around. I posted my pic in the members picture section, and I started to realize that I am probably not at my genetic natural potential. However, I am most likely going to start sooner. Why? It's simple. I want to hit my targets quicker. Let's say I am gaining 1/2 a lb to 1 lb every 2 months. It is going to take me forever at my current rate. Hell, I'd be in my 30's.

I think the natural genetic potential is thrown out there a little too much. I think the most important thing is perfecting diet and training. I feel I have that down pretty good, so I will cycle before I have reached my "genetic potential." Flame away.

I agree it has to be more than 5%. Just look at guys that train hard and juice vs guys that just traing hard and you will see a much bigger difference than 5%!!

Depends on where you are when you make the "measurement." You get diminishing returns the more advanced you are.

either you have great genetics for a bodybuilder type of physique or you don't.you can see great genetics before you even touch a weight.the ones with great genetics are the ones that have a different look than the the average person.think back to high school when peoples bodies were starting to develop into what would eventually be what they are today, athletic physiques were definatively noticeable from those who were not.although some who may have been carrying extra weight turned out with good physiques with proper diet and training, those that were already athletic in build and body composition that continued on with proper diet/training developed great physiques, and some who were athletic but let themselves go are either average or below average now.

I think a "percentage" is more a figure of speech. Sure, you can take a bunch of gear and accomplish more with little work than someone natural who busts his ass. But after you go off, the natural guy will still have his muscle. Size built solely with gear doesn;t last. (Hell, look at Keven Lavrone).

So in that regard, yeah, steroids can give a PERMANENT, EXTRA 5%. But it must be in combination with proper training, diet etc, to be truly effective.

This is very true. I experienced this first hand as I grew up with Shawn Ray. Even at 11 years old, the guy had an AMAZING physique without ever touching a weight. He was also very athletic and always the fastest kid in the school. When he started to lift weights in high scholl, he just exploded as you can imagine. He just had phenomenal genetics.

if you have a "good" diet and think you know how to train to grow and jump on aas too early, yes the results will seem tremendous.

an ok diet is much different than a real diet. training, there is so much the average trainer doesnt know about how to grow that this is a big part.

genetics is the biggest part. some people are meant to grow. others have to work real hard at it. where you lie on that continuum will dictate how big an impact aas will have on your physique.

Well, the permanent thing I can agree with then. Because my friends blew up, and lost it all. However, a couple maintained good size even after stopping their workouts.

With a strong pct and a continued workout and diet program you should be able to keep a LOT more than 5% of what you gain... Even if you were never to take gear again..
