a couple of hours ago. My guy has had a St Bernard for about 8 years. She is really starting to be sort of stiff with arthritis and gets grumpy. Anyway, today he was kissing her face and petting her, and she bit him in the temple area hard enough to break the skin and show little teeth marks.

:worried:

I can't fathom the thought of putting her down. She is usually such a sweetheart. I love that dog to death and so does the whole family. I guess we should just be careful with her. We already don't let strangers pet her, etc.

Poor old girl.

If a dog bites me, the dog is gonna pay. I like dogs, but I don't trust them.

Is he dating my daughter?

LOL....no, her parents are pretty well off and sort of Hippie types. Plus, she is 17, and you can't be old enough to have a 17 year old.

Oh yes I can. I'm nearly 42, but my gf is 25.

Maybe next the dog will bite your face off and that will force you to see a plastic surgeon and hopefully the plastic surgeon will perform a miracle and actually make you look pretty. Don't worry about money because its your hurband's money that you can use and if he doesn't have enough then you can find another 60 year old guy who does.
....

You have to ignore him. He's pretty stupid. He quotes himself to be seen instead of writing in a colored font. lol.

That is the best you can do fistfull? LOL

Just get used to quoting yourself for a while. =-)

i don't think either one of you is stupid. or a moron. in fact, you're both wonderful. why the negativity towards one another?

it's a beautiful day. brb, counting my blessings.

I don't know a thing about him. He's just a constant hater buzzing in my ear like a gnat.

I worry about that with my dog. He's a 100 lb. dobie and has always been great with everyone, but arthur is setting in, he's getting older, and he doesn't respond as well to people just coming up and grabbing him anymore. He has no idea how strong he is either. Between the way their teeth come together and his strength, if he latched onto your forearm and decided to really pull, he'd pull the meat off like a chicken wing.

Maybe your dog needs one of those beer canisters around his neck...and some Ricola.

Looks like the 18 year old will stop french kissing the dog too. I want to bite people when they get in my face.

Well, we actually have 2 St Bernards. Dayton wouldn't bite, ever, but we have to keep Buckets away from any strangers because she is temperamental and nippy. she is so big, though, that she breaks the skin when she nips.

Not for nothing, but what kind of dollhouse owning douchebag names a St. Bernard Buckets? Also, what kind of animal hating douchebag buys a St. Bernard and raises it in FL's heat and humidity?

They stay in the air conditioning with us. It means the rugs have to be vacuumed every day, but they are cool They have doggy doors in the sunroom and out the pool enclosure, so they can come and go as they please. They are some spoiled pups. I put ice cubes in there water all day long. They love that.

buckets got her name because she got her butt stuck in a bucket the first day that they got her. I like her name. I think it is very cute.

*shudder*

That poor dog has had berets put in it's hair while a grown ass person baby talked to it, hasn't it?

You should worry about him taking a bite when you do that cawk/peanut butter trick :worried:

LOL....no, not that I'm aware of. That pic with the glasses was because my 11 year old step daughter wanted a photo of buckets like that. I kept her still while the stepdaughter snapped the photos.

But my yorkie liked wearing sweaters when I lived in Cincinnati. He didn't like to be cold.

He's trained to do certain things. He's able to do that with the finesses of a brain surgeon. What worries me is when my niece in law or whatever that demon seed is called, comes over and just swats him in the side of the head, pulls his ear, and grabs his paw. Her face is only a few inches higher than his and I worry that he could bite her face almost off. His mouth is big enough to do it.

can't believe no one has asked this yet... but

was it an accident? like was he licking and caught a tooth? Or did he actually BITE him, aggressively? Dogs accidentally give love nibbles or can catch a tooth when they're excited, that's always fine, as long as they feel bad. But if it every shows aggression towards a human, then you are failing as a dog owner, prob time to give it up.

It was not an accident. She gets pissy and turns and nips and then she gets this shamed look like she didn't mean it.

My stepsons girlfriend was right beside of him and I think her presence is really what caused buckets to be nippy.

Buckets comes up to me and puts all 130 lbs of her bodyweight against me and begs to be petted, hugged, etc. She swims in the pool with me and is careful to not hurt me.

She doesn't like strangers bothering her, though and would definitely bite them if they start messing with her, especially her face.

If a dog bites me....I will simply hammer fist it on top of the head hard. No need to kill a dog for a bite....Just crack that mother fucker real good.

Kaz

that sux, you need to roll buckets on her back and punish her when she does that stuff, I have raised countless rescue bully breeds and have NEVER had a dog I couldn't make sound, even stubborn old dogs aren't worth giving up on.

Agree.

I hate when people think a dog needs to be hit when it acts out. Mine has never been hit unless we're playing. All they want to do is make you happy. They just need to respect you first.

She already feels bad and licked him immediately. If I throw her down with her arthritis, I will really hurt her badly. =-( She has a hard time getting up and down even.

i have had many dogs in my lifetime - dad ran a dog kennel full of springers and brittanies.
I hate to see a dog suffering from old age - bad sight or joints. I would put it down if it were miserable most of the time.

That is what Heather's man needs to do to her.

She isn't miserable most of the time. She only has a hard time laying down and getting up and getting in and out of the pool with me, but she still has fun playing, getting petted and barking at joggers...lol.

you have a son? and he got bit and you post on Elite about it. just beat the dog's ass and be done with it.

well, tell people to leave her the fuck alone. dogs are smart, they figure, hey, i've been around for a while and i don't think i need to put up with peoples non-sense. they deserve respect, just like any other old fuck.

yeah, I always wait for her tail to wag and for her to lean on me. Then, I know she wants the attention. I leave her alone when she is grumpy, but the kids are not always so in tune to her. :worried:

to limit your liability in this situation, I'd keep her VERY isolated. Now that you have a documented bite incident, if it happens again... your likelihood of a lawsuit is much higher.

jnevin said:
It sounds like you guys have raised a couple of fat, disrespectful little shits.

He is thin, not that i see how that is relevant. I didn't raise them. I've only been here since March. He wasn't being disrespectul. He was petting the dog.

Why have you been shitty to me for the last few days? I thought you were one of my buds? C'est la vie.

wait, is this your son? his son? the title says "our son"... I thought you didn't have kids?

i'm confused.

and sorry about the dog- i've been bitten by the sweetest dog I ever had- it was an accident, i knew.

His son, my stepson. I've never had a baby, yet.

This dog is accident prone, if you get my drift...lol.

meet me in the Wal-mart parking lot.

heather, check your county and state dogbite policy, sometimes there are GNARLY charges associated with a repeat bite.

He didn't have to go to the doctor or anything. It wasn't that bad. So, it was not reported.

I will just have to really pound it into the kids' heads to watch out not to pet her unless she is wagging her tail and standing up, comiing to them.

Otherwise, we keep her away from people.

You shouldn't call yourself a monkey, even if you are a little funny looking.

j/k

I vote to put the dog down. Not only did the dog bite, but you've admitted that the dog is old and arthritic...and has developed a grumpy disposition as a result (likely to bite again). So, you can end the threat to other people and put the dog out of its misery in one shot.

she isn't miserable, just a little stiff getting up and down and a bit grumpy. She is still mainly happy and friendly 99% of the time.
