Had to give the renters the boot last night, refunded them a little bit of their money. I'm a little worried, storm surge predictions give it 50/50 chance of flooding my ground floor - which is 9 feet off the actual ground. I moved all the super expensive stuff to the top floor and covered some other ground floor things in plastic sealed with duct tape for extra protection.

I went to the grocery store expecting the same sort of pandemonium I saw prior to our four inch snowfall over the winter only to find that coastal NC folk are apparently quite ho hum about big storms. No lines, no people rushing and stocking up. Don't they know you're supposed to make milk sandwiches in times of crisis!?! lol the most ravaged area was the beer isle.

Took care of my shopping, got some food and alcohol essentials, found a friend to stay with. Come on, you big bitch, I'm ready.

Best of luck to you nef, but is duct tape really gonna do anything if it floods? lol

Who the hell knows lol....but better to try instead of nothing. It should hold a good seal though. The flooring is another matter. Where it lands is going to have a big effect on how high that surge is, and that's my only concern - I know the house can withstand the current wind predictions and it's on the IWC side. I just want to minimalize the water damage and there was just some stuff that was too heavy to take up stairs.

I know, our supermarkets here are some crazy some meh... I guess it varies, Publix is pretty calm, Walmart is kinda crazy...
I dont know WTF to do, not sure how strong will winds hit my area since it will be a class 3 in our coast :worried:

duct tape works on everything.

I was thinking about you while watching the weather today nef lol...stay safe

Flood insurance covers this type of thing right?

then your insurance will build you a new one :) silver lining?

lol you know, I don't know if it goes that far. It would take a monster storm to do that much damage, though. Or 20 feet of surge. The eye looks like it's making landfall around hatteras, so we won't get the worst of it down here unless things shift.
