Speed of negative faze of exercise?

Everywhere i read one thing - speed of positive should be explosive and negative should be about 3-6 seconds. How come that every huge guy in my gym, every professional that i see in movies train in the way that their negative faze is about the same as positive, which is usually 1/0.5 seconds?
Can someone explain, why huge guys never follow slow negative? They just don't have to b/c of their genetics or slow negative is not so important?

It depends on what yoiu are trying to acomplish. A slow negative is more for a body builder. There is no reason a PL should lower a weight for 6 seconds ,at least a miximal weight ,it would just burn him out before he even gets to the concentric part of the movemnt. If i am correct a fast eccentric phase will give you a better stretch reflex in the muscle and will allow it to contract harder(correct me if i'm wrong). Differnet rep speeds is another way to change up the movement and for hypertrophy a slower eccentric works well. However, for moving bigger weights it is detrimental in my opinion.
jsut some thoughts.
