Sort of new to the gym. Need advice

Hi. I'm sort of new to Weight training. I'm just wanting to know how to get stronger fast. I'm 35 years old. 2 meters tall. Weigh 130 kg. I'm carrying a lot of fat on me. My current squat is 120 kg x 5 reps doing 3 sets with 2 warm up sets. #dad lift is the same . Bench press is 80kg same reps and sets. Some of the younger guys say I'm getting to old to lift heavy and that I'm past it.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
