Some help with diet questions

My goal is obviously to retain as much lean muscle and lose as much fat as possible...I will be running AAS to save muscle, and aid in fat loss.

My questions are these..

These all pertain to those who run lower carb/fat/high protein.

What's the latest you eat carbs, and then what is the last meal of the day? i was thinking my last carb meal would be somewhere around 5-6, and then my last meal would be 9pm, and right before bed a casein shake.

What kinda carbs do you guys eat while dieting? whole wheat bread, pasta, fruit, oatmeal, etc?

For protein i was mainly gonna use fat free cottage cheese, chicken, fish.

While running low carb diets, do you do something like 5 days low carb, then 1 day refeed?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me, i decided to put it all in one thread instead of post whoring :)

well there is no "magic" time that you should stop eating carbs, but i wouldn't advise right before you go to bed and possibly the meal before that. Of course that all depends on if you work out at night.
I would say the best carb choices are potatoes(sweet or white), oats, brown rice. Pastas and bread are too refined but if it works for you then go ahead.

Thanks for the tips, i wish the diet board was as busy as the anabolic board so i could get more answers to the rest of th questions but we all know diet isn't important :P

Any way, any one else have anything to add?

also, do you guys still take your post work out shake w/ dextrose? i'll take the shake but should i leave the dextrose in or not?

I don't believe timing to be important, as long as I am eating within my caloric requirements for the day. As it turns out though, I do eat four carb meals daily, the last one being around six p.m. - i then switch to fat/protein meals (every three hours or so following dinner).

I get my carbs from oatbran and oatmeal (generally 1/3 to 1/2 cup each meal). Protein from chicken breasts. Fats from flax and fish oil.

Every sixth or seventh day I bump carbs (usually i have 1 cup of oats with a protein source every two hours) - all day and into the night (maybe 6am to 11pm).

I take a post-workout shake with dextrose even when aiming to lean out.

Sounds like you are making good food choices, so if I were you I'd just shoot for 500 cals. under maintenance and adjust from there.

Thanks for the awesome help. I wanna make sure i nail my diet to lean out, last time i lost way to much muscle (i had no idea what i was doing) so my last bulking phase was a pain in the arse, eating as much as possible to gain the muscle back i lost...and added a bit to much fat :D
